My daughter Vega has been with Lorraine since she was 1 years of age and she (now 3) continues currently on Thursdays. I cannot rate Lorraine high enough. She instils kind yet firm boundaries with the children. She is wise, clever and she has a great sense of humour that actually helps the kids to appreciate and develop being funny as well. It also helped me to loosen up a bit too!
The children learn to care and look out for one another the older 3 year olds helped Vega to walk and now Vega delights on helping the younger ones. They learn to share things, eat together and play. My daughter eats more for Lorraine than I could ever manage to feed her. Lorraine’s fabulous group of kids develop their first social skills together. Lorraine has a particular quality of always allowing the children to express themselves, encourages them to speak slowly so she fully understands and clarifies situations fairly. Even when we go on holiday Vega misses Lorraine and shares funny stories about the other kids.
Lorraine spends most of the day out at the park, playground, Heath/ o’ clock clubs and she takes the kids to the other places i.e Zoo and Transport Museum as well.
Above all Lorraine has phenomenal insight into the children’s qualities and developmental challenges and she is always supportive. She articulates in one sentence what I might have been trying to understand for a month. Lorraine is always flexible with arrangements or taking Vega for extra days.
Her set up is unique as the small group of kids come to Lorraine’s home, a rare find these days. I guarantee you will not find anyone like Lorraine in Hampstead. I can only say Lorraine, her group of kids, her set up and Vega’s happiness whilst in her care is absolutely brilliant!
