Jodie was our nanny for 2.5 years for our two boys, who when she started were aged 2 and 4, where she managed them through transitions into primary school and around some hours in local nursery settings.
Jodie is an amazing childcare provider, incredibly focused and dedicated to her job, whilst also bringing elements of fun, exploration and a very caring attitude to her role.
My sons both loved her and still do, even though she isn’t their full-time nanny, but she often provides babysitting and they are always delighted to know Jodie is coming.
Jodie was very proactive in researching activities and planning a schedule for the children as our nanny, always looking to mix classes/clubs with outdoor exploring, play activities at home and building in downtime to suit the needs of the different age boys. It was so good to know that Jodie would always have a plan and would continuously adjust to add variety, letting me know about new activities, areas she had found to take the boys. Jodie also took on elements of home duties in her role which she always delivered above and beyond on, for example making sure the shared areas in the house where the kids played/ate, where clean and tidy at the end of the day and managing their toys and play areas, to keep playtime relevant and interesting for the boys.
Having children of different ages, Jodie is very adept at ensuring a good mix, juggling activities that would suit both children and also creating opportunity for separate play. Jodie also managed schoolwork with my oldest, which started as more basic reading and spellings after school, but became full time home schooling during the pandemic. This is where Jodie’s patience really shone through, in a difficult time for everyone involved.
Jodie genuinely cares about the children she looks after and her job and strives to always deliver the best solution for the families she works with, she is also very easy to have a parent/child carer relationship with, which is always important when you have childcare in your family environment.
Having a nanny in your home when you have them working long hours and they are a vital dependency for parents/carers to be able to commit to their own working situation, can be difficult a times, in my experience of having Nanny’s for over 10 years. However, Jodie has always done a brilliant job of working collaboratively with us to navigate any unforeseen circumstances, to ensure we are were all aligned and to find jointly beneficial solutions for us all.
Her flexibility and support during the constantly changing protocols of the pandemic were a game changer for us. There were no hard and fast rules for private childcare providers to work by yet Jodie approached this in a consultative way and we were able to be open and honest to find an approach that worked for us both. We couldn’t have managed that situation as effectively without her exemplary attitude and caring support.
We were really sad when our circumstances changed with our youngest starting school and we were no longer able to have Jodie working with us full time, but happily can continue to use her regularly for babysitting and ad hoc childcare.
I have no hesitation recommending Jodie as a nanny to families who are looking for the highest standard and caliber of nanny, who they will work with as an extended part of their family unit and want a collaborative and long-term solution for their childcare needs.
