About Me

28.02.22 I HAVE NOW BEEN EMPLOYED AS A NANNY BUT I AM STILL AVAILABLE FOR EVENING BABYSITTING.

Hi, I'm Ellie, a mature Nanny/Babysitter. I live in Cuckfield with my husband and we have three adult boys in their twenties. We moved to Cuckfield from the Midlands 25 years ago with my husbands job and have enjoyed building a life here. As well as raising our own boys I have 30 years experience working as a childminder/preschool assistant/preschool supervisor/private Nanny/careworker and a PA to a young person with learning difficulties.
I am presently doing part time work as a Nanny to two families, but I am looking to either do additional hours, or find something which offers more continuity. Ideally this would be on an employed basis, but I am also prepared to do it on a self-employed basis, as is my current status. This would need to be discussed.
I enjoy doing crafts, baking, walking and generally kids stuff like lego, watching movies, drawing/painting, etc.

My Experience

I've survived raising three boys, now aged 30, 27 and 24.
I started childminding initially when my eldest was born as I was a single Mum but continued to childmind for friends after I married and our second son came along. I returned to part time sectretarial work as they got a little older but then our third son came along after we moved here and I wanted to stay at home to be with all the boys and help them adjust to the changes. I therefore resumed childminding. When our youngest joined preschool I helped on a voluntary basis and then joined as a staff member when he moved onto school. I was promoted to Supervisor (having completed my NVQ 3 in childcare) after five years and held the position for ten years inclusively, before leaving to become a private Nanny. I was with the same family for seven years, up to July 2021. During my time with them I cared for their two children, took them to school, picked them up, brought them home, entertained them, made dinner, bathed and got them ready for bed. We had play dates with friends and had various adventures when I worked over the holidays. I had an Ofsted Assessment in December 2020, which I successfully passed via video call. I've done/do babysitting for parents whom I met at pre-school and recommendations via them. During my time as a Nanny I was registered with Ofsted, had a DBS, insurance and first aid, all financially covered by my employer. These have since lapsed due to no longer being in that position and my new employers not requiring them. I am still DBS registered for working with the elderly (needed for my carework) and have just completed my first aid refresher training. I am presently working for two local families as a Nanny, with children ranging from 14 months to 11 years old. I have insurance and would happily acquire a new DBS if requested.
On a more personal level, I consider myself to be loyal, conscientious and discreet, with a good sense of humour and a love of family and all the ups and downs that go with it. I have a clean driving license and my own transport.
I can provide references as and when required.

My Qualifications

A long time ago:
School: O'level English, History, Art
C.S.E. Maths, Biology
Completed a typing course which I guess would be equivalent to
a BTEC today.

Went to a secretarial night school and obtained 80 w.p.m. typing and 100 w.p.m. shorthand. Also did a one day Receptionist course and a word processing course.

Initially worked as a receptionist at E.M.A. Worked my way up to Director level at British Midland Airways and Central television before leaving to raise my children.

NVQ 3 qualification - childcare & education
Various training courses relevant to working within a preschool
Child Protection Certificate
Paediatric First Aid Certificate from 2004 - 2021
28 years caring for children ranging from newborn to adulthood
Ofsted registered and assessment passed 2020
No further training undertaken since becoming a Nanny

Ellie was our before-and-after-school nanny for 7 years – my daughter’s whole time at primary school ! She took both my son and daughter to school, brought them home, and made their evening meals, four days a week for 4 years, then the same, just for my daughter for the last 3 years.
This arrangement worked fantastically for our family – Ellie was wonderful at talking to and entertaining both children – they both adored her from the start ! It also meant they could do any after-school clubs they wanted to – whether in or outside of school, and they could relax at home once their day was done, when they weren’t eating the many treats she cooked up for them 😊

Ellie was 100% reliable. I didn’t need to worry at all that the children would be collected and transported from the right places at the right times, and I knew they would be well-looked after and well-fed when they got home !

Ellie re-arranged her days for me, when I changed jobs, and my day off had to change. Ellie was always flexible, always willing to stay a bit later if needed and she did lots of babysits for us over the years, too. For me, it was a low-stress option – no worries about finishing work in time and racing around to pick the kids up. They were already safe at home with Ellie.

** If you think you could use reliable before and/or after-school childcare, easier for you, and great for your children, I would urge you to get in touch with Ellie ! You won’t regret it 😊 **

Thank you Cath, that's very kind of you. It was such a pleasure working with you all. I can't quite believe how quickly the years passed. Take care. Ellie 😊
