About Me

I am currently building up my own businesses and I would like some part time work. The obvious choice and my favourite work would be working with children, and Nannying is work I have always enjoyed: getting to know the babies, or toddlers or children I have previously cared for is an absolute joy, and I find it such a rewarding job watching them grow and learn.

I am a very reliable and trustworthy person. I am enthusiastic, energetic and compassionate, and I love working with children. I live in Beverley, and my company runs a Saturday drama school, toddler and baby classes and public speaking and communication skills classes in a local primary school. I have lived here for 2 years and my little girl is 4 and starts school in September, so I will have more time for work. I could work in the summer also, for a reduced rate as I would also have my little girl with me.

I trained in Acting and Music Theatre, and lived in London for 15 years, working as an actor, but also working jobs that I could work around my acting career. Most of these jobs involved working with children as I love teaching and I'm also very interested in child development.
I have a DBS check, first aid training and a wealth of experience with children of all ages. Children and child development is a real passion and interest of mine, I don't think I can list all of my experience below, but I will try!

I am a family person, I have a 4 yr old daughter, and my style of parenting, teaching and caring for children is to lead with compassion above all. My favourite book to read on parenting is 'How to Talk So Little Kids Will Listen' by Julie King and Joanna Faber, there is so much in it, it would take me all day to explain, but the main premise is to treat children with respect and love always, whilst also setting boundaries. It's not about being a perfect parent or carer, or a permissive one, it's about teaching children, and learning with them, and speaking to them as we in turn, would want to be spoken to by a leader. We're all learning as we go, as each child is different: I am a creative person, and a problem solver, so I find childcare and child development fascinating and I love a challenge, and caring for children is a wonderful challenge! It's a very important job to be even a small part of a child's life as you can make a real difference in a child's life experience, so I always want to be someone who makes a positive difference to each child that I work with.

My Experience

I currently run and own Oxbow Lake Performing Arts and Oxbow Lake Babies and Tots. Running a Drama School on a Saturday in Beverley and a baby and toddler class on a Tuesday. I will be increasing my teaching in September but I currently haven't set the days so I can be a bit flexible with days. I also teach 'Public Speaking and Communication Skills' at a local Primary School one afternoon a week and I absolutely love this too, giving the children the confidence to speak, put up their hands in class and read out loud in their classrooms is extremely rewarding.
Please see my CV for previous experience, including Nannying, teaching toddler and baby classes for 10 years, working in a Nursery on a cruise ship, teaching drama and entertaining at children's parties.
