About Me

I am currently a masters degree student studying speech and language therapy in Manchester.

I have always loved working with children and feel passionately about building relationships with both parents and children in order to support children's learning and development.

I studied Health and Social care for a year before studying to gain my level 3 diploma in childcare for two years. During my time at college, I discovered my interest in special educational needs and autism in particular. I have also completed a level 3 apprenticeship in Residential Childcare as part of my employment at Options Autism (residential home for young people on the autistic spectrum).
I then went on to discover an interest in Angelman Syndrome, which I researched as part of my dissertation in my final year of my bachelors degree.

I have dogs of my own and have had lots of pets in the past, so a home with animals would not be an issue for me. I have a full driver's license but do not have my own car at this time due to studying.

My Experience

I have volunteered/worked in child/care settings for many years. These settings include childminders, a variety of nurseries working with a range of age groups, SEN schools and residential homes. I have babysat for different families with children aged 2-10 years.

My responsibilities have included weekly planning of activities for my key children, aswell as monthly observations in order to track their development and learning. These activities cover all areas of the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) including Maths, Literacy, and personal, social and emotional development. I have also worked with children who are starting potty training. My responsibilities as a residential support worker were to encourage children and young people living in residential care to develop domestic skills, support in personal care and support social and emotional development.

References and DBS certificate would be available on request.

My Qualifications

GCSEs at C grade or above in Maths, Literature, Art and English Language.

AS Levels at C grades in Sociology and Health and Social Care.

Achieved CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education in 2017.

Completed Level 3 Residential Childcare apprenticeship in 2020.

Achieved a First class honours degree in BA (Hons) Deaf Studies, Special Educational Needs, Disability and Inclusion studies at University of Wolverhampton in 2023.

Currently studying MSc Speech and Language Therapy at Manchester Metropolitan University.

I have completed a 12 hour Paediatric first aid course which included anaphylaxis and use of epipens. I have also completed multiple online courses and training, including food hygiene, safeguarding, and emergency first aid at work.
