Serious concerns
Anna has worked for recently in 2017. I had to dismiss her last week because there were 2 incidents of concern. She was sole care of my child at a picnic in a public central London park and she let my child go unattended. There was a period of time when my child was completely alone and unsupervised. I was called by another parent whilst at work to state the incident. I reported the incident to the Police and they will be referring to social services and other childcare authorities.
The second incident involved her taking my other child to school in an uber and she left him to carry a laptop, rucksack, games bag. She did not assist and the laptop was lost. It was an expensive item which contained a school year of work. She states she doesn't know where it is but was in sole charge and left home with the item went straight to school and the child did not take it into school. A police report regarding theft has been carried out.
When these issues occurred I spoke to my children and they both independently stated that she is persistently on the phone and even when she drops them off or collects them from school she barely speaks or looks up from her phone. It is clear she was not engaged in her job.
I work as a doctor and do not wish other children to be put in danger therefore I would like other parents to be aware of this situation. I also dismissed her immediately when she failed to supervise my daughter and left her alone in the public park. Situations like this also have a considerable impact on parents working lives as they are reliant on reliable, responsible childcare.
