I have been fortunate enough for Louise (or Weezie as the children & parents call her) to take care of both of my children from babies to leaving for school. When meeting Louise for the first time she was warm & welcoming, I instantly felt reassured that my son would be happy, well looked after & thrive in her care. Both my son & daughter settled quickly & she treated them as her own. Her caring & supportive nature gave me peace of mind when returning to work.
She offers a wide range of meaningful learning activities within her home & garden, with an array of resources. The children have so many opportunities to visit different places - daily walks in the woods, trips out to the library, farm visits, the zoo & the scarecrow festival to name a few. I feel that both of my children really benefitted from the interaction with the older children who attended before & after school. She offers a wide variety of home cooked, tasty, healthy meals & snacks. Louise tracks the children’s learning & development; we always enjoyed looking through their learning journey. This is such a lovely keepsake too, we often look through all their fond memories of their time with ‘Weezie.’ Communication was excellent, messages, daily file & aways available to chat at the beginning & end of the day.
We really couldn’t have wished for anyone better to care for our children. I would certainly recommend Louise to anyone looking for a childminder.
I am a teacher in a local school, and many children I have taught in the past have attended Louise’s wonderful setting. All the children (and parents) raved about her, so when I needed childcare for my own son I had no hesitation in approaching Louise. Right from our first visit I was sure this was the right setting for my son. He was with Louise from when he was 18 months (he’s now 5) until just before he began pre-school. He loved going to Louise’s for many reasons. She goes over and above to provide enriching experiences for the children in her care, taking them on exciting trips as well as using her wide array of toys and resources in her setting. The level of Louise’s pastoral care is second to none; she treats all the children in her care as if they were her own. Louise also tracks the children’s learning and development in a very thorough and detailed way through use of their learning journeys. Our younger son has been with Louise since he was five months old (he’s now 2), and we are again delighted with the experience he is receiving. I also have to mention the food! Louise provides healthy, nutritious and delicious meals and snacks, again going over and above to keep the children happy and healthy. During lockdown, Louise has done everything she can in terms of support and flexibility, which has very much eased the stress of childcare and work commitments in a difficult situation. I would recommend Louise to anyone looking for a wonderful, kind, caring and hardworking childminder.
My daughter Sophie has been with Louise 'Weezy' for 3 years now and my son is taking her place as she goes off to school, he is 9 months old. Throughout the 3 years my daughter has been placed with Louise we have received the most exceptional care and I have watched Sophie grow from a timid baby into the most amazing little girl, she is happy, smart and confident and I know that Louise has played an enormous role in this. Louise really nurtures the children and helps them learn and discover new things. We all feel like one big family, always there for each other on the rocky road that is raising children! The children in Louise's care show a great level of care and respect for one another and have a sibling type bond which is lovely to see. I am thrilled that my son will be entering into the same setting that his sister did and I know he will thrive as I honestly wouldnt want to put him anywhere else. Thank you Weezy 😊
Louise really is an exceptional childminder. Having been used to a nursery setting, I was initially apprehensive about leaving my Daughter, Eva with a childminder. However, as soon as I met Louise and she invited me into her home, I was instantly re-assured. That was approximately 2 years ago. Eva is now at pre-school and I cannot express enough how much Louise has played a major role in Eva being a well-rounded little person. During the time she was in Louises care, I was able to go to work extremely contented in the knowledge that Louise was providing varied means of development, whilst in a loving environment. Additionally, Louise is a brilliant cook and she always provides a wide variety of food, with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. She encourages the children to try foods which are new to them and during the Summer, she grows the majority of her own fruit and vegetables and includes the children in this. Louise totally exceeded the provision of the nursery and I have never looked back.
Prior to Eva starting at pre-school, Louise accompanied us on one of our visits so that she could provide Eva’s Key Worker with a personal hand-over and also Eva’s file that thoroughly detailed developments, with photographs, Eva’s drawings etc (the pre-school do not know of any other childminders who take the time to do this.) Louise also provided the pre-school with an impressive and detailed report on Eva’s development journey, over her two year stay.
Louise also takes care of my eldest Daughter, after school. During her time with Louise, she has grown a desire to learn. Louise provides a secure and loving environment for the children, which I believe is the reason for this desire. Grace has also developed a caring nature towards the younger children, who are in Louises care.
On a personal note, Louise is an aspirational Mum. She has two children of her own and they are testament of Louises attributes. My Husband is a tough one to please and he regularly sings Louises praises! (He has even been known to refer to Louise as Mary Poppins!!) Seriously though, I cannot recommend Louise enough. With reference to her Ofsted rating, she truly is ‘outstanding in all areas’ and I cannot thank her enough for the wonderful start in life that she has provided our girls with.
Louise or 'Weezie' as all the children call her has cared for my two daughters since they were 4 months old! They are now aged 10 and 7 years, and now go before and after school to Louise's.
I can still remember my first unannounced visit to Louise's when my eldest was only a few weeks old. Having never previously been to a child minders house, and still very much trying to get my head round going back to work, Louise made me feel so much at ease at the thought of leaving my baby with her. She really is a wonderful person who is amazing with the children she cares for. She has a lovely clean, warm, and happy family home and is always found sat on the floor playing, reading and interacting with the children. She always has plenty of toys for the children to play with including story sacks, dressing up bags and books. These are all in really good condition and age appropriate. Louise is always replacing her toys and my children are always keen to show me something new that Louise has bought!
Louise always took time to tell me about what my children had been doing during their day. She kept a diary for them when they were little and even now I still like to read it as well as look at the pictures and drawings they have done over the years!
Louise is very organised. The children always did lots of exciting actives and still do now.......the list is endless! Everything from making bread and cakes, taking them to the zoo, to growing and watching caterpillars turn into butterflies. Her garden is a safe environment for children to play in. She always has something edible growing in the garden which the children seem to like talking about.
In the past I have discussed 'santions' for my children. I have always been happy with how Louise handles this. She is firm however very kind with it. At times, especially when they my children were were younger, they had sticker charts that followed on from their time at Louise's to my own house. I liked this because I felt that we were both singing from the same hymm sheet so to speak!
My children have remained a Louise's throughout. They now go before and after school and love interacting with the other children, especially the younger ones. Louise's home is always filled with fun and laughter. It's always hard work trying to get my children to leave at the end of the day when I pick them up because they are usually in the middle of something exciting!
I could carry on but I'm not sure how much space is available! I have always felt that Louise is the sort of person who goes that extra mile. She is kind, very approachable and has a lovely family by her side. I have never hesitated in recommending Louise to my friends over the years. They have all had her look after their children and I know they have been completely happy with her care. One friend continues to have Louise look after her children during the school holidays depending on availability.
My children are the most precious things in the world to me and I have always felt completely happy with the care Louise provides and would recommend her to everyone.
Louise O'Brien has been my daughter's childminder since January 2011. I really can't say enough about how lucky I feel that my daughter is looked after so well by Louise. I never found a childminder when I went back to work with my son and every day he went to nursery I felt so down especially as he was upset for months. My first day back at work with my daughter I felt utterly happy and secure knowing that my daughter would be looked after just as I would look after her myself. We haven't looked back. Louise is the only childminder I have ever seen play so interactively with children. Before we employed her services, I noticed, at our playgroup she was always on the floor with the children and not busy chatting with the adults. She is organised, fun, takes the children on walks in the woods, always uses life as an opportunity to teach the children. She really takes the time to tell me about my daughter's day, all the ins and outs that I miss so much when I am at work. My son's nursery could only seem to remember what he ate and if he wee'd or not! Louise's house is lovely and clean and the garden is great for the children. She is also near a woodland and the children go for walks as often as they can. She is also firm and kind as a disciplinarian. We have chatted often about certain issues and I am always happy (and in agreement) in how she handles my daughter. One of my favourite things is that Louise also runs a before and after school club. My daughter loves being around the older children and they equally dote on the babies. I think it is very special and really feels like a family environment. I am more than happy to be contacted if anyone would like a reference!
