My Summary
About Me
I offer a warm, welcoming, clean and friendly house with a wide range of toys that are both challenging and enjoyable. I follow the curriculum of Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), and collaborate with the nurseries and schools of the children I care for, sharing details of progress of the leaning journey. Included within the handbook you will find a summary guide to your child’s learning and development in the early year’s foundation stage, along with the relevant pages for your child’s age, please read and return marking down your child’s learning and development achievements, this information will form the basis of my starting point in their learning journey within my setting.
I have a fully enclosed large rear garden with lots of outdoor toys and equipment providing physical development. Our house is situated within the old town of Stevenage on the corner of Orchard Crescent and Bridge Road, a short walk to local amenities and Woolenwick school. The children I look after love to explore the rear garden looking to spot the local squirrels and birds. I also have a large fish tank with a variety of fish that the children like to watch. I use the downstairs of the house for child minding. I have minimised hazards within the home so the children can move around safely. The home is comfortably furnished and equipped enabling children to make good use of the space provided that is well organised and child focused. I regularly attend meetings and conferences to enable me to keep up to date with developments and to share experiences with other child-minders.
My Experience
I began my child care career in 2010 and found it enjoyable and rewarding, throughout my time as a child minder I have cared for children from 3 months to 10 years, I take the well-being of the children I care for very seriously, I actively encourage independence, and provide a good role model, I teach the children about behaviour and relationships with other children. I build a good relationship with the children in my care and are able to make the children feel safe and secure in my setting. I actively encourage healthy eating and explain the importance of a healthy varied diet, along with exercise through play.
My Qualifications
I have gained a diploma in CACHE Level 3 home base care, and have been certified for the following, Two Year Old Check Training, Safeguarding Children’s training course, Child Protection Awareness. I have a valid paediatric first aid certificate and I am a member of NCMA. I am keen to further my education by attending conferences and courses when they become available.

Wilma looked after my 3 year old son for 2 years. She built up a fantastic relationship with my son, as did her children, and provided a positive and nurturing environment for him. I never had any concerns for his health and well being and was always comfortable leaving my son in Wilma's care. If I ever need childcare again I will most certainly be returning to Wilma
My now 2yr old has been with Wilma for a year and they absolutely love each other. My little one also loves Wilma's own children and others Wilma has looked after. I find Wilma to be flexible and fair but most of all she is extremely generous with her time, patience and educating her charges. I feel lucky that we found her.
I have had a very bad experience with Wilma. She looked after my 2 children for 1 day this December 2018 (Monday) and cancelled on me the second day (Monday) 2 working days beforehand. She also said she accepted the 3/4 year government scheme but was not registered and even though I provided her all the info before the cut off she still missed it and demanded payment for my son who is technically free. On top on this when I demanded my money back for the second day not worked she paid it back but deducted the free settling in fee. Also on the 1st day she was not home on time due to a dentist appt but failed to notify us. Very un organized and is not good with the formalities such as paperwork and child care schemes etc. I would not recommend to anyone and I now have the unfortunate task of trying to find someone new over Christmas whilst back at work after maternity leave!

This parents was rude and lied to me,I can deal with people that tell lies.I’m a honest and very reliable person. She is telling lies and she didn’t want to pay me for looking after her children. So I refused to looked after the children until she pays me and she got mad and is now making all these lies up.
If you're after someone that focuses mostly on ticking boxes, then this setting might not be for you. But if you're looking for a caring babysitter that focuses on your child's needs and gives them a hug when they need it then choose Wilma. My son he used to be a very fussy eater, but after a year with Wilma he now eats almost everything. His social skills and confidence has improved markedly.
