About Me
We have a very happy and friendly household. I have 3 children. Harris 7, Heather 9, and Daisy who is 10.
A bit about my children. Daisy is non verbal with a diagnosis of ASD, verbal apraxia, hypermobility, dyslexia and ADHD. She is highly intelligent, bossy and hilarious. She communicates via a speech device on her iPad or some basic verbal demands like “sit down”! Harris also has ASD . He is classed as preverbal as he has some speech and it is becoming more functional. He is a typical boy, and loves all things messey and silly! Heather is classed as a young carer and is being assessed for ASD higher functioning. She is extremely caring and kind. Her behaviour has been classed as impeccable by school.
A bit about me. I’m mum, I’m a full time carer to the children and always around except on a Friday where I work as a carer for a lady with epilepsy. Before children I was a high school science teacher. I have trained to be a legal advocate and help parents with EHCP applications and the process. I have been to parliament recently to lobby for more help within the SEN system. My husband and father to the children is called Tom, he works away most weeks. We are both bubbly and try to provide a loving environment for our children.
My Requirements
We are seeking a tutor to carry out a play based therapy called ABA three/four days a week, Monday, tuesday (optional), Wednesday & Thursday 8.30am (9.30 on a non school day) -4.00pm. No experience of ABA is needed as all training will be provided on the job. The role involves teaching my daughter in a supportive and motivating environment, personal care around the toilet and washing, taking her on trips to and supporting her to socialise and interact in a wider environment, tidying her classroom to ensure it is sanitised at all times, working on speech with an AAC (computer device) amongst other responsibilities. Daisy and Harris have a dynamic curriculum which involves going into the community daily. This ranges from going to Asda, cafes, sea life, Chester zoo, Blackpool zoo, Alton towers etc. This year we have been to Disneyland Paris, Scotland and Portugal. These were optional trips for the tutors and we had lots of fun!
You will gain experience as an ABA therapist, work alongside a Behavioural specialist, speech and language therapist and occupational therapist. You will work as part of team of tutors in a supportive and home based environment. Experience of working with severely autistic children is a must. The ability to play with children, be lively, patient, enthusiastic, the ability to work as part of a team, use initiative and maintaining a professional conduct is essential. DBS clearance is essential and we are looking for the candidate to start immediately. You must hold a full driving licence and be able to drive a manual van. You must be able to work part of all school holidays, however holidays will work on rotation with others tutors.
The second role is again a self employed role but provided for my disability social services with the intention of giving my partner and I some help around the house, as well as allowing for my other daughter to have some more 1:1 time with an adult. The role involves cooking (at times), cleaning, playing with the children and helping with their general care/personal care. It is Monday-Friday 4pm - 7.30pm. One Saturday a month we would also like to have additional hours of 7 - midnight at the latest as a babysitter.
This role can be a shared role between two people looking for part time work, 21 hours in total, each taking a day to work and both working on a Friday. If the right candidate is found this could also be a full time position.
Pay begins at £11-19 depending on experience. There is a yearly increase in wages at the lower rates.
