My Summary
About Me
I am an Early Years teacher with over a decade of experience - four of those as a homeroom teacher and the rest as a private tutor. I have an honours undergraduate degree in Early Years and Special Education and an MA in Character Education.
I'm extremely passionate about working with children and helping them reach their maximum potential because I truly believe that by using the approach that is right for them, every child can truly flourish.
My Experience
If you are looking for a tutor for your child, I can only assume (and please do correct me if I am wrong!) that you feel he or she has been left behind at some stage. The first thing I will work on is ensuring that your child does not feel that he or she is failing in any way, but rather, that they have a different way of learning which unfortunately is not catered for at school. Building your child's confidence is the first step as it will enable them to believe that they are capable - which they are. I understand that not all children learn in the same way or at the same speed, and that unfortunately, with a curriculum to keep to and a large number of students in a class, classroom teachers are not always able to give the focussed attention that some children require. I will work with your child to find out exactly how it is that they learn best.
I believe that a fun approach to any topic is absolutely possible and have a wide range of resources available to make this happen. I'm very patient and have a natural ability with children.
If you believe your child has challenging behaviour, I am certain that we will get along. If they have special educational needs, I will continuously research the best and most recent strategies to help them strive. I've worked with children as young as two, with and without SEND as well as gifted students and on a wide range of subjects/abilities, from reading, spelling, pronunciation, maths, foreign languages, to coaching them on adapting their behaviour to the setting and developing stronger social skills.
The first lesson is half price. For 20 minutes we discuss your child's requirements and your hopes from hiring a tutor. I will then spend the next 20 minutes with your child, with some pre-prepared activities so I can assess their level and needs. During the final 10 minutes I'll share my thoughts and plan of attack. If you agree, we move forward with booking weekly lessons.
I also have 4 years of experience teaching English as a foreign language, for children and young people aged 2 to 18.
My Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood and Special Education
PGCert in Character Education
TEFL (Teach English as a Foreign Language) certification
