About Me
I am a student at Newcastle University living in Jesmond, I have a flexible schedule which allows me to work around the days and times required by my employer. I have a keen interest in animals as I am a Zoology student so I am happy to work in households with pets. I also have interests in reading, cooking, baking, walking and travel. I am a hardworking, reliable and organised person. I am happy to help out with keeping the children occupied, cooking them meals and helping with cleaning and laundry.
My Experience
I have previously volunteered in a children's nursery for 9 months, working with children from 12 months to 4 years old, I found this to be such a fulfilling activity as I got to build relationships with the children and watch them develop their skills. this role involved me occupying the children with different activities including reading to them, engaging with them in messy play to develop their sensory learning and helping them during meal times. When working with the pre-school children I was involved in encouraging them with their art projects, helping them learn to resolve their conflicts with their peers and working on their communication skills before entering primary school. This role also involved soothing the children when their parents left and helping to distract them so they could enjoy their day. I have also got experience working with children aged 11 to 16 as I volunteered as part of the biology help club at my secondary school, mentoring the younger children in aspects of biology that they were struggling with. This gives me the ability to be able to help any of the children I babysit, with their homeworking that they may receive from school. I have also previously babysat for my next door neighbours, who's child is 4 years old, as well as my cousins child who is 5.
My Qualifications
GCSE maths grade 6, GCSE german grade 7, GCSE english literature, english language, food technology, Textiles design, Geography, Chemistry and Biology all at grades 8/9
A- level Biology grade B
A-level Chemistry grade B
A-level Geography grade A*
I have relevant work experience relating to childcare and can become first aid certified if the parent requires this.
My Availability
I will be available in the afternoons after school and evenings as well as weekends depending on my university timetable but this is very flexible and is not often a problem. I may be able to do some mornings before school as long as these are before 9am. I am very willing to work around the employers schedule and we can work out a timetable which works for everyone involved.
