About Me
We are a family of three, including myself (Amber), my husband Leo, and our 10-year-old child. We also share our home in Peacehaven with six cats and a dog!
After living in Brighton for three years (and London prior to that), we moved to Peacehaven for a quieter life and to better meet our family’s needs.
About Our Child:
Our child (they/them) is a bright, creative, and compassionate 10-year-old with a brilliant sense of humour. They’re passionate about animals, particularly whale sharks, and love spending time swimming, role-playing, trampolining, and being in nature. Social justice is important to them, and they have a strong sense of fairness and empathy.
They thrive in low-demand, neuroaffirming environments and build the strongest connections with adults who are playful, patient, and take the time to gain their trust.
Our Child’s Needs:
Our child is autistic with ADHD and has a PDA profile, alongside sensory processing difficulties, anxiety, hypermobility, and sleep challenges. They’ve been out of school since May 2023 due to school trauma and autistic burnout, which has led to emotionally based school avoidance. We are currently securing an EOTAS (Education Other Than At School) package to provide them with tailored support in their recovery.
They’re most comfortable in environments where they feel understood, respected, and supported, with plenty of opportunities for creativity, fun, and connection. Consistency and reliability are essential, as they find changes or disruptions very difficult to manage.
My Requirements
What We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking a kind, experienced, and flexible support worker or learning mentor to help care for our child and provide opportunities for socialisation and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:

Wednesdays: Pick up from Peacehaven at 8am, drop off at Farm School for 9am, pick up at 12pm, and stay with them until 3pm.
Socialisation and Activities:
Spend half a day (Monday and/or Friday) taking them swimming, to home education groups, or to other social opportunities with neurodivergent or EOTAS/home-educated children.
General Support:
Provide a calm, engaging, and neuroaffirming presence to help them thrive socially, emotionally, and creatively.
Ideal Candidate:
Experience with PDA: Someone with a strong understanding of PDA profiles and low-demand approaches.
Fun and Engaging: High energy, creativity, and the ability to connect with children through play and fun activities.
Reliable and Consistent: Reliability is essential, as changes or let-downs are particularly difficult for them.

Flexible hours, roughly 15–20 hours per week, with the specific schedule outlined above.
Starting at £20 per hour, with room for negotiation based on experience.
