I took Megan on to nanny my baby in late August 2024. She had recently left a job in a pharmacy and told me she was returning to what she loved, working with children. In the few weeks she was with us, she had time off sick, for appointments and was late, but I overlooked that as she was good with my baby. However on 17th September, without prior warning, she did not turn up to look after my daughter as planned. She later messaged me to say she had overslept and was unwell, and the following day advised me she was stopping work to 'focus on her health'. I took her at her word and wished her luck. However I have seen today that she has updated an online profile to state she has started a new pharmacy job on 17th September - the very day she failed to turn up to nanny for us claiming to be unwell. I feel really sad, disappointed and deceived by Megan; that while claiming to be unwell, she was actually starting a new job. If she had just been honest, I would have completely understood. But to leave her role with us in this way, and to not even advise me that she would not return until she was a couple of days into her new job, knowing fully she had no intention to return and that I was relying on her to be here, I find to be very inconsiderate.
The two stars are to acknowledge she was good with my baby. But for the reasons outlined above I cannot recommend Megan, as my view is that she is not committed to working in a childcare setting.
