About Me
I am a tutor and aspiring teaching assistant I have over 3 years of experience working with children and young people. I have taught and supported students from 4 years old to 14 years old as an Arabic tutor, providing online teaching and support. I also have been a community helper were I was able to support students directly.
My Experience
Throughout my experience, I have supported students with special educational needs including Autism. I understand that every child will have different needs and therefore will require a range of strategies to support them. Strategies that I have found useful include having a routine that is maintained, providing more time for the student to understand, using short and simple sentences and answers, using space outside the classroom to learn and using repetition to aid understanding.
When managing behaviour, I would encourage good behaviour by complimenting the child and giving them praise. I am clear about what I am pleased with and I remind the child that they were doing the right thing. When managing challenging behaviour, I would speak to the child and remind them about the behaviour expectations. I would address their behaviour and explain why it is not acceptable and what they would need to do in order to change the behaviour. I would support the child with making good choices and would praise them when I saw improvements in their behaviour.
My Qualifications
I have 6 GCSEs including Maths(8) and English(5)
I also went to college and studied Level 3 Extended Diploma Engineering where I received MMM.
