My Summary
Loving, Family Style Home-Based Care In Central Twickenham.
About Me
I provide loving care and learning in a bright, modern and friendly setting in my home with garden close to Twickenham Train Station, 5 days per week all year round.
I provide a caring and stimulating home environment, with a focus on fun and the emotional wellbeing of all of the children in my care. We are a setting with a real family feel with the children all playing and eating together, forming very strong bonds and friendships with us and with each other. I also feel that forming a relationship between carers and parents is so important, and we send lots of photos and videos of the children's day as well as filling in a daily journal and always being ready to chat about the children's day at drop-off and pick-ups.
Myself and my Co-Childminders Maria Sifrova and Diluni Welaratne are Ofsted registered with Good and Outstanding Ofsted gradings. We follow the Ofsted Early Years Foundation Stage, incorporating the three main areas of learning for this age-group (Personal, Social and Emotional Wellbeing, Physical Development, and Communication and Language) into everything we do with the children, as well as the subsidiary areas (Expressive Arts, Literacy, Mathematics and Understanding the World), planning activities for each of the children in relation to this and their individual development stage.
We love to get out and about with the children and visit parks, playgrounds and go on nature walks nearly every day to keep the children active. We also visit the library, shops and so on as part of our daily outings, as well as getting further afield during the summer months with special trips to local places of interest, for example to Kew Gardens, Hounslow Urban Farm, Orleans House Gallery.
Typical activities at home include painting, sticking, baking, singalong sessions with drums/rattles etc, working on puzzles together, dressing up, puppet shows, as well as free-play with toys and reading books together. Also playing in the garden with wendy house, trampoline, slide and ride on toys, water play and paddling pool (when warm enough) and more structured garden activities such as planting herbs together, growing sunflowers, snail and bug hunts and so on.
As Childminders we maintain the ratio of no more than 3 children of any age to one carer, and we cater for the early years 0-5yrs age range, without offering before/after school care for older children, and so have no school run to contend with, meaning we can focus fully on this younger age-group. In addition, as we are childminders working together, we cover each other for sickness and holidays, meaning no closures for these reasons.
A kind message received recently from one of our current parents:
"We wanted to say thank-you to you and the team for all your kindness and care especially during these wild times. In spite of everything going on our daughter is always coming home happy and full of beans after having had such a wonderful time. We love to see the pictures and videos of her having lots of fun on your adventures. We're very grateful to all of you for creating a refreshing taste of normal for her."
A recent message from one of our leavers:
"We wanted to thank you all for creating such a happy and fun environment which our son has loved. He has always come out with a smile on his face and is full of stories about his friends. The relationships he has made with you all will really help him with our next step and we are so grateful to you all, you will be missed!"

My 2 year old has been attending Sycamore for nearly a year and is sadly soon to finish as we are moving out of London. We couldn't have picked a better setting for her and have been nothing but happy with the level of care and love all the staff have shown her over the past year. The children go on walks and adventures everyday, as well as undertake some form of art and learning activity. It's been so amazing to have our little one come home with new words, social skills and overall development as a result of her time at Miranda's. Diluni, our daughter's key worker, is an absolute gem, so warm and always wearing a smile on her face. Our daughter took to her instantly! We were apprehensive initially, as any new parents are, about leaving her in childcare 4 days a week at such a young age. But I honestly think it has helped her development to such an extent, it was certainly the right decision. She has already started her settling in days at the new nursery, a much larger establishment, and she's taking to it with ease and confidence. Which I attribute to her time at Sycamore. Thank you team for all you've done :)
My son is 2.5. He is the second of my children to attend this setting. He loves it. He thrives here. Sleeps and eats well, nappy trained easily. They get plenty of outdoor time every day, walks, arts and crafts, singing, stories, celebrating special days or birthdays. I have complete faith in the staff who are long standing, highly experienced and caring. I know that my son feels secure, safe and loved in this environment. The group size is perfect and staff ratios good.
We decided on Mirandas (Sycamore) when we were looking for a space for our 6 month old a few times a week, and it was the best decision we could have made. From day 1 he was always comfortable with the staff, he slept and ate well and there were never any tears at drop-off. They always go outside to playgrounds or the library or the shops, and it is great to have the garden in the summer that they can run around in. I trust the staff completely, and they offer good advise on childcare (such as when sleeping at home becomes an issue) and as they are a good sized group of children (up to 9 I believe) they learn to share but still get individual attention.
He made good friends with the other children, and we arrange playdates regularly with them.
We are now moving on to a preschool, and are sad to go, but I would recommend Mirandas to everyone.
Miranda and Maria’s setting is just wonderful. My little girl attended for 9 months, aged 15 months to 2 years, and absolutely loved it. She was well cared for in every regard, and formed great attachments with all the childminders and assistants. She was supported in her potty training and always given varied healthy food. Communication with parents was exceptional, with daily reports on activities and progress. I’d often see the children out at about at local parks and they were always visibly happy and well cared for. We only left because we relocated, and would highly recommend this setting.
Our son has attended Sycamores coming up to 18 months and really enjoys his time there. Miranda has developed a very welcoming, homely environment with a wonderful team who care for the children excellently. He always comes home happy, chatting about his day with his friends and what fun activities they’ve got up to. We really like the way Maria and co always try to take the little ones out on a nature walk or to the playground to have a run around and get some fresh air. Our son has come on really well at Miranda’s and we’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a childminder setting in Twickenham.
