Hi, I'm Gemma.
I have a lot of availability over the summer holidays for childcare and tutoring, however from September onwards I will be on teacher training placements.
My Experience
I've a wealth of experience with children. I have worked as a nanny on and off for the past nine years.
I'm currently training to become a primary school teacher by the end of 2022! The families I previously worked for commented on how far the children's reading and writing came along during my time with them. I am currently working as a Maths and English tutor for children aged 4-14. Through my voluntary work with the girl guides I've learnt plenty of crafts and games to entertain children.
My sister has a son now aged 4, I was her birth partner so I’ve been a big part of his life. I volunteered in guiding for around 8 years now meaning I'm very used to keeping large groups of children under control. I volunteered at a local Brownie pack for seven years, a Rainbow group while I was away at university and a Girl Guide unit on Summer camps.
In Sixthform I spent two hours a week helping year 7s (aged 11-12) in a guided reading programme, this scheme helps improve their basic reading and writing skills along with their confidence.
I spent a further three hours a week volunteering in drama lessons with students from ages 11 through to 15. I’d provide a helping hand for my drama teacher and enjoy watching the outcome when the students do performances and shows.

I am currently available for part time and full time positions within my local area, for any parents who need a hand while the children are off school.
I am away 22nd - 31st July 2022.

We employed Gemma recently to look after our 3&6 year old daughters. The both loved her very much and she became a very good friend of the family.
She was always on time, happy to help with hours should we be late and very approachable.
She loved taking the girls on trips to the library and to watch films. She help lots with their education and both girls learning has come on two fold since we employed her. This we thank her for very much.
She is a great person, quite but very reliable.
It was a sad day when we told her we were moving overseas and could no longer give her employment.
She is an asset to any household.
Overall
Gemma has looked after my 2 girls (aged 6 and 9) for the past year. She has been amazing! She is always on time, polite, organised and considerate. She has a particular talent with capturing the imagination of children through literature, by story telling, reading or writing plays with or for them. She is very dynamic and I return home most days to find the children immersed in a new game or activity, from making a sea for a paper whale out of pipe cleaners, to owls from pine cones or animals from wooden spoons! She has a quiet authority and established her own star chart and reward system very quickly with great effect.
I would highly recommend Gemma to anyone looking for help with childcare.
