Karen looked after my son Jamie from March 2011 to May 2013 (aged 10months to 3 years). During this time he learned to walk, talk, feed himself, dress himself, use the toilet, and he grew into a happy adventurous young boy. He is definitely an outside child and thrived on the experiences that Karen gave him from regular visits to the duck pond, Wellington Country Park, play groups, and many more trips. He always looked forward to going to Karen and learned a lot about interacting with other children there.
Obviously we hit some obstacles and had some phases of difficult behaviour to deal with from Jamie during this time but Karen was always very clear and consistent with communication of Jamie's behaviour. This made it easy for us to discuss and come up with a plan together to ensure that Jamie was getting the same treatment with Karen as he was at home.
I definitely feel that Karen was the right person for Jamie to go to and felt extremely safe and confident that my child was getting the care he needed and deserved whilst I was at work.
I have recently had another child and moved out of the area meaning that Jamie has come out of childcare but if it wasn't for that I would definitely still have her as my childminder.
