About Us
Maiden Beech Academy is a Middle School for children between the ages of 9-13, which serves the town of Crewkerne and surrounding communities. Most of our pupils come from first schools in Crewkerne, Haselbury Plucknett, Hinton St George, Merriott and Misterton. However, many pupils do come from further afield and we are always interested to hear from parents who would like to visit the school to discuss what we may offer your child.
Maiden Beech is situated on an attractive elevated site to the south of the town and has specialist facilities for Science, Art and Design and Technology. We have 5 dedicated computer rooms. The Learning Research Centre (incorporating a library and study area), a drama room and a music suite with practice rooms attached. The extensive grounds also provide opportunities for environmental education and for a variety of sports including athletics, cricket, tennis, basketball, netball, cross-country, rugby and soccer in which the school has an enviable reputation.
Our Childcare Provision
Maiden Beech Academy offers childcare for it's pupils from 7.30 - 8.30am each school day. There is a small charge of £2 per child per day. From 8.30 our 'Food 4 Thought' catering service provides breakfast items for pupils. The school also runs an Extended Learning club from 8.30 - 8.55 am prior to school starting at 8.55. A further Extended Learning club runs each school day from the end of school until 4.45pm. The afternoon Extended Learning club is for pupils in Years 5 & 6 on Tuesday or Thursday and for Years 7 & 8 on Monday or Wednesday, there is also a Friday ‘Drop In’ session 3.35 - 4.45 pm for extended learning club registered pupils.
