Caterpillars Childminding - Everything you want from a nursery but in a home :-)
Meet the Team - Sarah Wedgbury, and Rob Garvey and Kirsty Walker. 2 puppies, 2 rabbits and a tortoise ?
Hi I’m Sarah the Owner and Manager of Caterpillars Childminding. Caterpillars was established in 2009 when I became happily pregnant with my first child. Being pregnant made me want to start my own childcare business to offer my own child and others a homely playful environment. I now work with my Partner Rob, and together we educate children through play, natural resources, and outings. Kirsty is a previous client that liked the setting so much she wanted a job and I am very pleased she has joined the team!
At Caterpillars we aim to provide a fun setting for children - and a flexible setting for adults
We are open 7.30am till 5.30pm weekdays.
The setting is from our open plan living room. The children have meals at our dining table. The garden is accessible all year round. We also have a 21ft Play Cabin in the garden full of resources and toys that mimics a little nursery world.
Working within The Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum on a principle play approach, we promote and develop children’s skills through play and imagination. Supplying fun resources that are open ended and inviting.
We take learning through play very seriously and offer the below as standard...
Gluing, painting, indoor sand, ict, reading, jumping, running, exploring, mark making, cutting, small world, puzzles, ball pit, waterplay, mud kitchen, trampoline, bikes and trikes, playhouses wow and much much more.
Weekly we attend the following)
-Soft play centre and inflatables.
-Swimming on a Wednesday
-Playgroups for social and language development.
-Forest School on a Tuesday to enhance outdoor learning.
-Outside adventures to build knowledge of the world we live in.
-Library on a Thursday for reading and literacy.
-For bigger kids we go to the park a lot, so there is always a game of footie or a tree climbing competition on the go.
-Children can chose doing an activity, playing outside, going to the park, using the computer or playing on the Wii, Play station or Xbox – whatever they choose - they are never bored!
So if you like the sound of us please come and view us - we would love to hear from you.
Best wishes,
The Caterpillars Crew.

Both my children (4 and 6) are at Caterpillars. My littlest has done her EYFS there and has now moved on to wraparound, and my eldest has been there for wraparound care since he started school. Both of them absolutely love it. It's really nice to know that they are in a welcoming home environment before and after school. We send them for holiday club as well and it's great that they are so active - they do lots of trips places and generally have a great time!

I have both of my kids at Catapillers, one all the time and one for before and after school plus holidays. They both hate leaving. They have too much fun and are too engrossed in what they are doing. There’s such a variety of people and things to do they are never bored. I’ve (and the kids) have received brilliant support, my youngest is thriving there and so is my oldest. We couldn’t be happier with the setting, support and love that Sarah and Rob provide.
