Hello, my name is Beth Rumsby-Barnes and I live in Saxmundham. I am currently working as a Family Support Practitioner for Suffolk County Council.
Full of vitality, vocal, caring, empathetic and very fair-minded are attributes that are easy to describe me. I am also known for being a very resourceful, keen and dedicated worker.
Throughout the years, I have
worked in many settings involving children from ages 3 months to 14 years old, not only in the UK but in China too. From teaching English as a Foreign Language to looking after younger children, I have been able to adapt to any situation.
From the start of my education, I have learnt so much about children in regards to their development. I have gained experience by undertaking visits to a Forest School in Watford which enabled me to obtain practical experience in different ways of teaching. I also had the opportunity to visit Amsterdam where trips were organised to see a Day Nursery and also a visit to a Special Needs School to understand how other European countries tackle their education.
I have a degree in Childhood Studies where I graduated in 2017 from Nottingham Trent University and I worked as an English Teacher in China for 3 years.
Throughout the years, I have worked and been in placement throughout my studies in many settings such as a Day Nursery, Primary Schools and I have also been able to babysit children during my time studying.
My main hobby is dancing which includes, ballet, tap, modern, contemporary and street jazz. I was involved in a dancing school since the age of 3 and have passed ISTD examinations to Intermediate levels. One of the highlights of my dancing career was to help stage manage the annual dancing shows with 250 students aged 3-18 years taking part in the JMDS 30th Anniversary show. I supervised 6 groups of children of various ages, not only assisting in the choreography of the dances but making sure they were ready and dressed to perform on time at each of the 4 shows. This has helped me learn how important being organised, structured and timely is for a stage production and can only help my future career.
My Experience
I am currently a Family Support Practitioner for Suffolk County Council working with families that need that extra support. Before this, was a deputy manager of a nursery in Suffolk and had many key children. Worked and lived in China for 3 years teaching children English. During my time there, I also conducted 1-1 tutoring going into a families home and teaching their child English. In 2013-2014, I worked at Moor End Farm Kindergarten in Hemel Hempstead where I was a Key Worker for 6 children ranging from the age of 3 months-5 years. I had to assess these children according to the EYFS making sure they were developing through the milestones. This led me to do many babysitting jobs and looking after children.

- West Herts College- Children's Care, Learning and Development- Level 2 and 3- Level 2 Distinction*, Level 3 Triple Distinction*
- BA Hons in Childhood Studies, studied at Nottingham Trent University- graduated with a 2:1
