About Me

OFSTED REGISTERED

Hi, Mummy's, Daddy''s, Grandparents and Guardians.

My name is Brigitte.

I am a NNEB trained nanny with many years experience of looking after babies, toddlers, and pre-schoolers.

I have monday, Wednesday and friday available. I am working through a long notice period due to end on August 21st for my Wednesday job. I have been looking after their little boy since he was 6 months old, and he's just turned two years old.
The family would be quite happy to give me a verbal reference, and I have a written one too.

I am looking for a nanny position for 2- 3 days a week, Mondays, Wednesdays
and fridays approx between 4- 8 hours each day. The hours can be flexible for the right family. ( No later than 5pm, as I have an evening caring/ companion job with an elderly lady.

I am looking for a family that I can give support too, for hopefully, long term. Perhaps you're pulling your hair out on a Sunday evening and would relish the idea of a little help in the week. I can be available Mondays, wednesdays and fridays.
I don't mind two/ three day a week positions either.

Family dynamics have changed since we were hit with covid, and it's made the way we work as a family unit and as a nation more compromising. Professionals working in offices in their own homes while their children play in close proximity, is literally a whole new ball game, it's not easy, but that's where I can help!

I have no concerns if one or both parents are working from home. Many babies and young children have been brought up at the start, and during covid. They can be quite clingy to mummy or daddy. It does help I find if young children have their parent or parents close by, they are more likely to settle with someone new and are less likely to be interupted with an unfamiliar face. Hence they will settle quicker with a new person taking care of them.

Whichever way you plan on introducing a nanny or new face to the home, the easier it will be if there's interaction between parents and nanny.

Perhaps you are contemplating a return to the office, or have found yourself juggling working from home, with having to find reliable childcare. You may just need a few hours for some, 'you' time, or perhaps you just want to get your work diary in some sort of order, so you can look forward to having a relaxing and stress free weekend.

I can help!!

I have a DBS, Certificate. ( needs updating) Have First Aid Training, but need to do a refresher course, and am Ofsted Registered. So I can accept childcare vouchers. Also fully vaccinated against Covid, including boostered.

I live in Harefield, and am looking for a family within a 1-10 mile radius. I have 3 grown up children. Two son's and a daughter.
My daughter is a Nursery Nurse, who was working in Private Nursery settings. She starts a new nanny job next month.
I was thrilled when she told me she wanted to start a new career in nannying, following in my footsteps.

Let me tell you about my nanny history.

I have, in August just finished looking after a two year old little boy every Wednesday. I have been his sole charge nanny since he was six months old in April last year. 2023. mum has decided to put her son in full time nursery.

I have been looking after a little boy who soon turned two years in August, on a Tuesday and Thursday, So looking to find work a monday , Wednesday and /or a friday.

Prior to my current employers . I was for the previous 18 months or so was looking after twins of 20 months, there's also
a 6 year old daughter, which I had limited time with as she got one to one with a childminder,/ tutor in school holidays. My primary focus was with the twins.

Mum has decided to put the babies into nursery, as that fits in better with her work schedule.

Prior to that I was Nanny to two little boys, a 1 and 3 year old. Sadly that only lasted a short time, 3 months, as the family had been hit hard with the cost of living and could no longer afford me, so are calling upon family and nursery and working from home
for there continuing childcare. .

Prior to that I had been looking after a bubbly, chatty 20 month old, full time, who I'd been looking after since he was a few months old.

Mum enrolled him in a nursery, and my hours had been reduced to accommodate this. She could no longer offer me anywhere near the hours I was working, so I needed to find another family.

Previously I was working for a single parent looking after her 3 year old twins on and off during covid, but now they have started full time school.

To keep me in her loop, I have been carer/companion to her grandmother a few flexi hours a week. I have been doing this since october 2020

I consider myself a very kind, warm, sincere, down to earth, dedicated nanny.

I am naturally very nurturing and have a calm nature about me, which I think children sense,

I am mature, responsible, trustworthy and completely reliable and I just adore working with young children.

I am active, I like to nourish children's minds by taking them out to different places, the library, farms, soft play areas, and the obvious children's favourite choice, any time of the year, the park.

I love Garden Centres, they're not as boring as they sound!!
Squires in stanmore is great. indoors they have the small animals and fish. Outside the garden. Water features, large fish, the plants, and lots of buckets. Christmas time is magical there too, literally it's all decked out for the season.

Kids naturally have a sense of humour, though they don't always show it. I have a knack of getting a smile and giggle from, mostly any child going through a grumpy phase. ( just ask a child not to smile and they instinctively will.) Never fails!!

Fun and laughter is all part and parcel of how I communicate with children.

I am a big believer in children learning through play, whilst having a lot of fun at the same time.

I don't believe in fancy expensive plastic toys, children get as much fun out of a blanket as a flying carpet, a wooden spoon with a pan, and the ever versatile boxes as cars or rockets. Anything can be improvised, their world is their oyster.

I have a sense of humour, children have to have fun in their day, I act silly, and really do engage on their level.

My sense of humour isn't only limited to the children, I like to make the Mum's and Dad's laugh too. Makes for a very nourishing, happy environment.

I would consider myself a good cook,. I love making a variety of foods curries, stir fry, shepherds pie ,casseroles, my only drawback is that I usually tend to make enough for mum and dad too. I can pretty much make something from nothing, after all I do run my own home.

I am firm but fair, and expect the parents and myself to work together to be a united team to help their children grow.
I believe in discipline, good manners and encouragement, that combined with care and love has to be a recipe for success.

I am a driver with my own car and have insurance to transport children.

I am totally committed to looking after children. put simply I couldn't see myself doing anything else.

I am dedicated, reliable, punctual and am happy to fit in with any family. Very comfortable with pets too.

My availability currently, is mondays, Wednesday 's and fridays.

Pease feel free to message me.

Thank you

My Experience

I have been a sole charge nanny working for many private families. Doctors, Bankers, Civil Servants, even an anaesthetist, .and a palliative care doctor. I was a Deputy Manager at a Private Day Nursery ,in charge of the baby room ,

I was supervisor of an indoor soft play area for children. (The Wacky Warehouse) in Croxley, where I also organised and ran the morning mum's and toddlers groups. I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with the mum's and getting to know the children.

Myself and two other mum's opened our own community playgroup, called 'Rainbow House' in Abbots Langley, which proved very successful . From that I independently ran my own summer play scheme in the late 90's with the over 8's, holding it in the hall of Rainbow House. It gave parents the chance to have their older children entertained whilst they stayed home with their little ones. It was well attended and enjoyed by all. Mornings would be activity time, messy play, and after lunch role play, pretending and child initiated, working as a group, with the intention of tiring them out by collection time.

I worked at Watford General Hospital for 2 yrs photographing new born babies for Tempest First Portrait.

I loved that job, getting hands on with new babies, I was in my element.

I am happy working as a sole charge nanny, but equally happy to work alongside Mum as an extra pair of hands.

Earlier in my career, I travelled and worked as a Nanny in Canada. (Toronto) and stayed for a year.

I travelled to Los Angeles and looked after Paul Young ( a successful pop singers daughter) Levi Young. for almost two years.

I am very easy going and love nothing more than being in the company of children. (and parents)

I love babies and toddlers, being a part of helping them to learn and grow into Independent little people.

One of my previous jobs was Nanny/ carer / mothers help, looking after a 2 year old little girl and her 8 year old brother.

Their mum has MS and is wheelchair bound, so I was with mum every day.I

I did nursery/school pick ups, playing with, and cooking for the children, bathing the youngest and potty training. Listening ear to the eldest when he wanted to talk about cars and football, taking him to Clubs and playing board games.

My role involved helping mum out too, as and when she needed it.
She is more challenged in daily tasks, for which she needs a helping hand.

The little girl has just turned 6 years, but was 2 years at the outset, and her brother turned 8 and was 12 years when I left that employment.

I had been with the family for 2 years.

I worked for a military family, and all that entails with parents away on duty l.ooking after two children 3 days a week . They were 1.5 and 3yrs at the start. I was their sole charge nanny for two years.

I was responsible for Nursery drop off and collection, taking the younger one , to play dates and classes, such as Hertbeeps and Rugby Tots and Fizzifun. I was responsible for the children's clothes, nursery, and general clear up after meals and activities, dressing for nursery and cooking healthy meals, catering for their food intolerances.

I was working wednesdays and fridays looking after 3 year old twins. But due to the covid pandemic this was temporarily halted. They have now turned 5 and have started school.

A couple of evenings a week I was a carer/companion to a 93 year old lady, making her supper, or taking her out and about, generally being a listening ear. we hit it off straight away, she has a cooky sense of humour, like myself and I like to think I enhanced her day a little. as she did mine..she's great. She unfortunately had a bad fall, so is in a Nursing care home, for which she is very happy and settled.
I know look after another elderly lady infact the grandmother of the twins I mentioned right at the beginning of my profile She's 91 and is very active mobility wise, but just needs some support with supper and, just importantly, with company. I fit in what hours I can with my current employ, and pop in on a Friday just to say hi.

I can provide a CV alongside lots of references and certificates for which I am very proud.

Also personal cards from some of the families I've worked for including precious handwritten cards from the children.

My Qualifications

I trained for 2yrs at the nursery Nurses College in Bristol from 1982-1984 and gained the NNEB Certificate. ( Nationsl Nursery Examination Board)

I worked in a private nursery for 18 months prior to going to college .then I qualified as a Nursery Nurse in 1984.

My Availability

I am available to families looking for a professional nanny for 2/ 3 days a week those being monday's, wednesday,'s and Friday's

It's important to me to find the right family. Being comfortable with them, as they are with me. Leaving your most treasured little bundle in someone else's hands, is a mountain of a decision. You have to get it right first time.

Continuity of care is of utmost importance.

I am looking for a long term family.

I am aware that families have been hit hard by the budget, it's a hard time for all.

I am approachable and salary is up for discussion. Ideally I would like to be paid my worth, which is £18 an hour, nett, with tax, ni and pension contributions on top of that.

I think my rate is justifiable, after all, I am looking after your most precious
child/children.

I am available for interview.

I regard myself as a sensible, level headed woman who has a lot to offer a family.

If you feel that I could be a good fit for your family, please feel free to message me.

I would like to stress, please do not be put off by my salary expectations, Thankyou for taking time to read my profile. I know it's long, I applaud you.

Kindest Regards

Brigitte

Brigitte has been wonderful looking after our young children, they took to her quickly and they respond well to her patience and kindness. She is always thinking of new games to play with them and cooks for them every day, catering for allergies. We love having her.
