About Me

My name is Natasha, I am 32 years old and London based. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, baking and training in the gym.

The most common question I'm asked by friends, family and parents is why do you enjoy working in childcare?

I have a career in something that can make a difference to the lives of my nanny children, their families and my own - and I realise that's not something everyone can say. No two days are the same, I thrive under pressure and enjoy being faced with a challenge.

I previously worked from 2012-2015 in a day nursery, caring for babies and children 3mths-4.5yrs, firstly as an apprentice and leaving the nursery as an Early Years Teacher.

In January 2016 I entered the wonderful world of nannying and I have honestly never looked back.

Caring for children has always come easy to me and babies have always been able to tug at my heart strings. Entering the nanny field was more of a natural transition into who I am and I have grown as a person.

Was I prepared for the challenges ahead of me?
Absolutely not, no. I'd managed restlessness during naptime for sixteen under 2's, vomit down my work shirt, multi-tasking by singing nursery rhymes whilst speedily changing nappies and entertaining sixteen hungry under 2's waiting at the table for lunch and soothed babies as parents left.
The difference being I had support from colleagues and a manager whereas in the nanny field I am essentially on my own.

Why did I leave nursery life?
I thoroughly enjoyed my years of nursery life, each 'thank you' was always appreciated, each room move was hard and tears were shed - mostly by me! I left the nursery due to two reasons, I felt unfulfilled and most importantly, it felt as though children were being forgotten as nursery staff were bombarded with endless amounts of paperwork. I entered the childcare industry to encourage all aspects of development and watch babies and children thrive but I felt I was no longer able to do so aswell as I had in previous years.

I take pride in knowing my nanny children like the back of my hand. I, along with their parents, protect those tiny hearts until they are old enough to care for themselves. Each new milestone achieved fills me with pride and some days I wonder whether my heart is going to burst because of the amount of love I have for the children I care for.
My days are filled with laughter, repetition as words and phrases I say aloud are copied, cuddles and hand holding, age and stage appropriate activities to encourage development, incorporating rules and routine, playdates with new little friends and splashing in muddy puddles!

I have been given the opportunity to mould, shape and grow each child I care for into the people they will one day become and that is the most precious gift of all.

My Experience

I have a keen interest in child development, I have gained experience in working with children through my previous nursery position and previous nanny positions. I have been in the childcare industry since February 2012, firstly working towards a Level 2 CACHE Apprenticeship, a Level 3 CACHE Apprenticeship and then going on to becoming a Level 3 Qualified Early Years Teacher in early 2014.

Through my experience, I am able to understand parents and childcare professionals are the first port of call during the early years of a child's life, thus why high quality care and education is important, we are their main teachers.
