My Summary
About Me
I am an honest, dedicated and caring 19 year old who is currently working full time as a Nursery Nurse in a local nursery. I am good at using my initiative in situations such as thinking up activities for the children to keep them entertained and their minds active. I am not yet Ofsted registered, but am willing to do so if required. I hold full UK driver licence and have access to my own car. I also hold a clean CRB certificate.
My Experience
Acre Wood Day Nursery Oct 2012 - Present
Nursery Nurse
At this Nursery I interacted with all different age groups from 4 months to 4 year olds. My role is to operate a program of activities which are suitable for the age of the children that I am working with. Also working here I was in charge of children’s EYFS folders and their achievements. I would liaise with the parents at the end of their child’s session at the nursery to tell them what their child has achieved at their time at nursery. My role is also to change the children’s nappies, help with feeding the younger children and preparing the children’s snacks. My role is also too inform the cook of any allergies we have within the age group I am working with and decide on a more appropriate meal for a child.
Baby Sitting/Mothers Help Aug 2012 – Oct 2012
After finishing my College course I went to do babysitting with a local family taking care of their 2 children, one aged 9 and the other 3 months. Most of my role was to look after the 3 month old baby while the mother took the older child out i.e. swimming, bike rides. My role here was to change the baby’s nappy and to keep her entertained i.e. nursery rhymes, baby gyms etc. On a few occasions I was asked to put both children to sleep while the parents were out.
North Hertfordshire College Sept 2010 – July 2012
Student
In my first year of college I have had two placement settings one in a Nursery and the other in a Year 2 class. My role in both these settings was to carry out 5 activities that the children will learn from and which will cover the 5 main stages of development, as well as day to day care and teaching them. In the Nursery setting I joined in with the childrens Phonics lessons helping to teach them there letters, whereas in the year 2 class I was helping the children to spell words and reading through work they have written. In my second year my placement was at a Pre-School where my role is as previously mentioned. Also during the second year we attended a baby place where we were placed into a family with a baby under 1. My role in this placement was to change the babies nappy, help burp the baby and to comfort them.
Allders Opticians July 2011 - Nov 2012
Receptionist
Working as a receptionist I would make appointments for patients either face to face or over the telephone. I was also taking payments for good purchased and helping with general day to day running of the practice.
The Knights Templar School Year 10
Work Experience
In year 10 I did my work experience at Puddle Ducks Day Nursery. My task there was to help look after the children throughout the day including meal times. I had to constantly be aware of the children and think of new ways to keep them amused while playing and learning. At lunch times I helped distribute the correct meals to the correct child, this included identifying specific meals and making sure that the child with an allergy was given the right food. I was required to keep the same enthusiasm and concentration throughout the day.
