About Me
I am a well qualified and experienced tutor with a BA (Hons) French and Spanish from the University of Sheffield. During my degree I spent a year abroad at the Universite de Pau, France and the Universidad de Sevilla, Spain.
Following graduation I worked as a Marketing Executive importing from primarily Spain and the Canary Islands but also France, Italy and South America. This provided me with excellent opportunities to become fluent in French and Spanish as I had to communicate both orally and in writing in my chosen languages on a daily basis.
After a career break to have my family I then took my PGCE and have been teaching ever since.
I am very flexible in my approach to teaching and tailor make my lessons to suit the requirements of the student. I believe that if the lesson is fun then the student will learn and I, therefore, incorporate a variety of different learning strategies into each lesson to keep the student engaged and motivated. I am friendly and have a good sense of humour and believe that this helps my students to relax and achieve their full potential.
My Experience
I have 23 years experience of teaching and have taught in both the Independent and State sectors as well as in FE and Adult Education. I have also taught in a Special Needs School where I was Head of Modern Foreign Languages and also taught maths, English and humanities. I tutor students of all ages from home. I am experienced in teaching all levels from beginners to (I)GCSE including Common Entrance, Entry Level and Functional Skills. I also offer language classes for those wanting to learn a language for fun and holidays.
