My Summary
About Me
I am a creative and motivated professional with experience at the highest levels of child development and care in both UK and international settings. Having cared for new-borns to teenagers in a career of over 20 years I am very capable of providing safe, educational, healthy, and fun care in all situations. Becoming a mother myself in 2017 has made me even more adaptable and given me a further understanding of infant needs.
Outside of work I have travelled extensively, experiencing many different cultures and achieving many personal goals in the process. I enjoy skiing, swimming and have an active and varied social life.
My Experience
From July 2010 to June 2017 I worked for a Czech family based in Geneva, Switzerland. Initially my role as a nanny involved caring for a girl aged 4 years and boys aged 1 and 2. A second girl was born in 2012. My role developed, and I took on the position of Head Nanny, responsible for some supervision and organisation of the other 3 nannies in the team, in addition to my childcare duties. My responsibilities included ensuring the children’s safe and secure transport to school and activities and social events, administration of their healthcare rota, provision of healthy meals, shopping, and clothing organisation. The family travel regularly, my role included care and education of the children during their trips, and finding entertaining activities in numerous locations. There was frequent 24-hour sole charge of the children and of the house for up to a fortnight.
I left this position to take some maternity leave on the arrival of my son.
From October 2008 to June 2010 I was a live-in nanny for a Belgian family living outside Geneva, Switzerland. I care for girls aged 1 and 5 and a boy of 3, driving them to their French-speaking schools, teaching them English, and entertaining them with activities and outings. I shop and cook for the family and ensure the smooth running of the household.
From February 2008 to October 2008 I was a live-out nanny for a 10 year-old girl who is wheelchair bound and needs complete care, including feeding and medicine administration. There were also three other children in the household, aged 6, 8 and 11. I picked up the children from school and provided healthy meals and entertaining activities for all of them.
In addition to that position I covered maternity leave from January to June 2008 for the part-time nanny of another family with two children aged 3 and 6. I took both children to school and nursery, and the older child to a range of after-school activities. I had sole charge of the children, and ensured that they ate healthily and went on plenty of fun and educational trips.
From October 2006 to January 2008 I was a nanny with sole charge of a 3 month-old girl and two boys aged 3 and 7. I take the older children to school, take the toddler on outings and to play centres, and entertain and care for all three outside school times. This live-out position has given me good experience in providing simultaneous care for children of diverse ages. The family moved to Nigeria in January 2008.
From June 2005 to October 2006 I was a nanny sharing responsibility with the mother of newborn twins and a 1 year-old and 3 year-old girl. I took the children to nursery and on daily outings and activities. I often had sole charge of the twins and enjoyed the challenges of caring for two babies. The mother decided that she no longer needed a full-time nanny, so I left this live-out position.
From July 2003 to December 2004 I worked aboard the cruise ship Ocean Village supervising children between the ages of 6 months and 17 years old. I worked with big groups of children leading their games, sporting activities and family events, including Halloween, Christmas, Easter and beach parties. I left this position in December 2004 to travel around Asia.
In between contracts on the ship I undertook two separate temporary nanny positions, the first caring for an 18 month-old boy, and the second looking after two school-aged children.
From December 2000 to July 2002 I was a nanny with shared responsibility of a newborn baby girl, a 2 year-old boy, and also a 4 year old boy who had an Autistic Spectrum Disorder. I took the children to school and on several outings and helped with the housework. I regularly had sole care through the week and also stayed overnight on several occasions. I left this position in July 2002 to travel around Australia and New Zealand.
From March 1999 to November 2000 I had sole charge of three girls, then aged 18 months, 3 years and 5 years, from Monday until Friday. I took the children to school and to various after-school activities, including ballet and swimming. I encouraged the children to take part in fun games and creative activities, and organised day trips during school holidays. This position finished in November 2000 when the mother had another child and decided to leave work in order to bring up her family.
From August 1998 to February 1999 I had individual responsibility for two children aged 4 years and 8 years, from Monday to Friday. I took the children to school and collected them, took them on frequent outings, and did a range of home-based activities. This was a live-out position, and finished when the family moved away from the area.
From June to August 1996 I was a live-out mother’s help for a 3 week old baby girl and 5 and 6 year old girls. On some occasions I was in sole charge of the children, entertaining them with various games and activities.
