My Summary
About Me
Hi my name is Paula McMillan I am an Ofsted registered childminder.
I have lived in West Ewell with my husband for 25 years and have two beautiful daughters aged 19 and 23.
I live in a 3 bed semi-detached house with 120ft secure back garden, which is equipped with fun toys for playing and learning and to support the EYFS.
There is a large summer house which is home to many toys, games and role play area and is a safe secure place to play and learn offering free flow play into the garden area.
We have now finalised a second building in the garden alongside the summer house which will be a "quiet" place for the children to go, with a sensory area and a place for quiet reading and learning or just a lovely place to go if quiet time is needed. The resources are aimed at 0-5 year olds and are fun for learning through play and investigation.
We have created a lovely "mud kitchen" in the garden for all children to explore and have fun.
My setting is a home from home enviroment and the conservatory is the main hub of the home where many activities take place such as art and craft where we make clay pots, paint on canvas, gluing and sticking, being creative, baking and having fun with music and movement.
I regularly attend toddler groups, childminding groups, soft play for exercise and socialising and enjoy getting out and about. We enjoy outings such as the zoo, farms, local parks, libraries and many other activities that my parents may request. we regularly visit the local parks to play and feed the ducks.
We take part in fund raising events such as the "Muddy Puddle Walk" in aid of Save the Children, Epsom Food Bank, Kids.
I support the EYFS and engage in regular contact with the childrens schools, nurseries and other professional settings in order to provide a continuous stream of consistant learning for each individual child within my care.
We plan different topics each term to support the children's learning and this is often seasonal - for example - such as autumn time, where we collect conkers and cones on our walks and use these to support all areas of learning such as the changing autumn colours, art and craft, festivals (bonfire night) , maths and physical development....... it's never ending and we allow the children to lead the learning and activities and then extend on this individually to increase a child's learning on a 1-2-1 basis. The main thing is that all children have fun.
I hold end of term parties for the children to celebrate their achievements and hard work during the term. I feel it’s important to have fun and play as part of learning and understanding the world.
.
I also am available for babysitting.
Please contact me for more information or to arrange a visit.
My Experience
I have been childminding since April 2013 with an age range from birth to 11 years. I can currently provide care for children from birth up to the age of 5 years.
I have raised my own two daughters and supported them through the EYFS programme and have experience and resources to provide this learning journey for all children in my care.
Previously to childminding I was a physiotherapist technician for 17 years working in an Oxford Trauma Unit and then in latter years moving to Epsom Hospital. I have brought to my setting many of the important skills and knowledge that will help provide a stable and safe enviroment for all children, such as a vast medical background, confidentiality, planning and organisation and an ability to understand the importance of continuing personal training to enhance my skills and knowledge to educate and support children from all walks of life that I have the privelidge to care for.
I have helped at my children's local primary school with day trips for the children, art and craft days and I was a 'reading ranger' supporting children with their reading skills for a period of time.

Our daughter has been with Paula since she was only 9months old in Sep 2017. I was reluctant to leave her so young in a nursery to return to work but Paula helped ease me back into my working life, reassuring me with regular photo updates and kind words, that my little girl was doing fine, was well looked after and loved.
Over a year later she’s still there and loves visiting the setting, it really is like a home from home! They do so many varied activities indoors and outdoors, arts and crafts, woodland walks, mud kitchen, music time, fancy dress... the list goes on and needless to say our daughter loves Paula and her family. It’s been lovely to watch her blossom and grow and I put a lot of it down to the setting where she spends so much of her time.

Cameron has been with Paula since December 2016 and we are very happy with the care she is providing. From the start, leaving Cameron with Paula was like leaving him with family. She sends us regular updates and photos throughout the day, and does a range of activities with the children indoors and outside. Since Cameron has been with Paula I have seen him flourish under her care, and he is learning new skills quickly. Paula and her family have a close relationship with all the children and Cameron is always happy to see them all when we drop him off. I would absolutely recommend Paula as a childminder.

Paula has been caring for my daughter Bella (age 2) since the summer of 2013. Her setting is a safe home from home environment and caters for all ages.
Paula injects the element of fun into learning through creative play and praises the children for their efforts and provides a healthy balanced diet.
Paula has a medical background which eases my mind whilst at work knowing that my daughter is in great hands with her.
Paula is honest, warm and friendly and always allows time for her parents, she listens to their individual needs and is flexible to accommodate.
Our favourite thing is Paula's love for life and is keen on fitness, keeping the children active and education.
Bella always looks forward to seeing Paula which is a great feeling knowing that she is in the best care whilst Mum and Dad are working.
I would strongly recommend parents to meet Bella and to visit her setting.
