About Me

I have completed my school-based teacher training in Secondary English through Star Academies. Through training, I have grown in confidence in implementing and delivering an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for pupils. My lesson plans have been praised for the sequence that I order the learning and the detailed ideas and concepts that are key to enabling the pupils to know and remember more. I consider when planning lessons the differing needs of pupils as well as ensuring learning is scaffolded so that all pupils can learn well and succeed.

I have taught across the age and ability range. My mentor has identified that my planning is ‘very strong’ and detailed.

My enthusiasm and eagerness to teach English has been appreciated by staff.

I always demonstrate a fundamental commitment to students and their development by making strong and positive relationships with them very quickly, using appropriate level of humour, enabling a positive climate for learning. Positive feedback from learners has been extremely valuable and reassuring. Having these respectful relationships in place has positively impacted on the behaviour in the classroom; students are rewarded and praised for their efforts, participation and progress to avoid reprimands.

Feedback from mentors identified my key strengths lie in my excellent ‘subject knowledge’, ‘pedagogy’, ‘organisation skills’ and being ‘very reflective’ upon my own practice, which has helped develop my teaching skills further.
