I was, like most mums, dreading the day it came to return to work. Lorraine made us feel at ease, we had a couple if visits all together for a chat and cuppa to get to know her and go through paperwork. My son felt at ease straight away and went off to play. We had a few times where he was upset to be left, but I felt absolutely confident that he was in safe and caring hands, and that he was having a whale of a time when he was there. Lorraine kindly sent texts to let me know that he was settled and doing ok which helped to put my mind at ease. She also provides pictures of the children playing which is really lovely.
He often came home with 'trophies' of what he had been doing that day, from paintings/drawings, cakes, pizza, paper flowers, masks. After all you never really get a straight answer from your child about what they've done! I found that he's speech really seemed to come along from being in the childminder setting, and he would often surprise us singing songs that we had not sung with him. Lorraine provides feedback daily on what the children have been up to, and anything else of note, which is very useful. I also felt she was very supportive when we had some medical problems and when potty training, which he did at quite a young age - Lorraine was more than happy to support us with this, despite the inevitable mishaps he would undoubtedly have.
She also takes the children to some childminding groups in haverhill, to the local park and one of my sons favourites to see the animals at A garden centre. Although, they actually have the most amazing fish tank at home too!!!
I would recommend Lorraine to any parent looking for someone who will give their child a hug if they fall over, welcome them like one of their own, and play or do crafts with them like you would if you had the energy yourself ;-)
