I am an Ofsted registed Childminder
I’ve been Registered since 2009, My last inspection was in October 2019. I provide a holistic loving warm gentle environment in my home, I provide fresh home cooked meals and snacks.
I live in a flat 2 minutes from Ladywell fields and Ravenbourne park. I have a Montessori background. I have great experience in managing separation anxiety in children also with twins, child development, speech delay, phonics, sleep routines, child led weaning, potty training and nurturing babies and young children.
My pedagogy is Montessori, I also draw on curiosity approach and loose play and other early years child development theories as well as the EYFS. While Children learn through play I also use a lot of nursery rhymes, simple songs, musical instruments in my setting.
I have excellent resources in my home e.g lots puzzles, a home corner, playdough, painting, sensory toys, lots of books messy play and baking equipment to develop both fine and gross motor skills, concentration, imagination and children’s curiosity. I attend Besson Rd community gardens (which an out door children Centre) music sessions, Oren Marshall’s music class, local libraries (Torridon library) stay and play sessions and meet up weekly for play dates with another child carer with the same age group of children. I have a range of parks at my door step, where we visit on our daily walks, as well as local farms (Surrey Docks farm and Mudcute Farm )
I have had Over 20 years SEN experience working alongside Occupation therapists speech and language therapists and other external agencies. I have worked with children with autism, Cerebral palsy Down syndrome, Global delay and children suffering from separation anxiety.
My Experience
I have been working with children for over 20 years both voluntary and paid. I have also worked as a Nanny for some lovely parents.
As a Childminder I have settled children from birth to the end of the early years. As well as after school children. I have gained nursery experience while working in a family run Montessori nursery, in Ladywell, Lillinghtons as well as mainstream schools private schools and nurseries.
I have a good working knowledge of the EYFS. Which I have been adhering to since 2008.
In my last Ofsted inspection i received a Good grade.
As part of my childcare experience I have tutored and also worked for two years in a reception class teaching at Oakfield prep school in West Dulwich in London following the EYFS.
To complement my experience I gained teaching knowledge working in various schools in London. I teach phonics using music, games, letters and sounds, and other theories such as Ruth Miskin.
I am Makaton trained as well as PECs trained. I have over 15 experience working with SEN children, including gifted and talented children. I have worked with children who have global delay, dyslexia,cerebral palsy, autism, behaviour problems, Down syndrome which I have found very rewarding.
I believe in diversity and that every child is special and unique and learn in there own pace and time.
My Qualifications
Studying my Masters in Education part time.
I have B.A hons in Social Science.
CACHE level 3 diploma in home based childcare.

I am so grateful for Helen and the wonderful way she has supported the whole process of introducing our son to childcare. She creates such a safe, loving, caring and fun environment were our son gets to play and also to learn. There are so many amazing toys and she has a very natural ability to get children to feel relaxed in her home by recognising their specific interests. The meals are varied and healthy (she's even been able to get our little one to eat veggies when any food before was a bit of a struggle). She sends daily updates so you can see what your child has been doing in the day as well as any important information that needs relaying. Helen has been so flexible with getting days to fit around our busy work schedules and we can't thank her enough for everything. Our little one has developed so much during these short months and he has learnt lots from being in Helen's company as well as interacting with the other children she looks after. It's been a real pleasure to see. As first time parents with a baby who is quite particular about who he warms to, Helen has managed to make us all feel relaxed and happy. If you're looking for a childminder who makes your child feel at home, we can't recommend Helen enough.

Helen is a lovely lady, always with a smile. I’m so glad we found her and she agreed to take my son on such short notice. She’s so pleasant and accomodating with our needs. I really appreciate everything and always look forward to the summary and the photos she sends to me at the end of the day. My son still mentions her name in the morning. He’s always so happy when I pick him up. Thanks Helen.

I've been taking my son who is 9 months to Helen for a couple of months now. It really is like a home from home for him and he loves his time there. Helen has been very flexible for me and my requirements. She takes the children on day trips and they also do regular activity groups. She really does care about the children in her charge and I would recommend her highly.

My daughter has been attending to Helen since November. She is my first child and the return to work was really making me anxious. But Helen makes things so easy for us. My daughter is very happy and I could not be more grateful. She is very flexible with my needs and she provides an exceptional care to all the children. I can see my daughter improving day by day.
I do recommend her to anyone looking for an excellent childare provider, you won't regret.
