My Summary
Dedicated Nanny With 10+ Years Experience In Early Years Education And Family Support
About Me
Hello, I'm Dorothy
With over 10 years of experience as a nanny and early years educator, I bring a wealth of knowledge and a deep passion for childcare to my role. Currently, I work as a Nanny/Proxy Parent and part-time at a local preschool in Bridge. I also lead a weekly Mother and Toddler group at a local church in Canterbury.
You'll often find me and the children I care for exploring various local activities, including Stay and Plays, playgroups, Toddlers Cove, Wingham Wildlife Park, Badgers Hill Farm, Betteshanger, local libraries, or enjoying a stroll alongside the Stour River and visiting John Danes Gardens. I’m always on the lookout for fun and engaging activities to enrich the children’s experiences.
Reading with children is a favorite activity of mine, and I also have a passion for healthy eating. Preparing nutritious meals from scratch is something I enjoy and do with ease.
I genuinely love caring for children, and it comes naturally to me. I thrive in fast-paced environments and contribute effectively to the smooth running of a busy household. I also stay active by spending time outdoors with the children and volunteer with various local organisations.
I hold a Child Care Level 3 Diploma in Early Years and am dedicated to providing the highest standard of care and education.
My Experience
With a decade of experience as a nanny, I have developed a deep understanding of childcare that spans from infancy to adolescence. I am a mother myself, which has provided me with personal insight and empathy, further enriching my professional skills.
Throughout my career, I have supported numerous families, maintaining strong relationships with them over the years. My responsibilities have included School runs
After-school activities,
Meal preparations and Feeding.
Toileting and potty training.
Arranging engaging activities,
Assisting with homework. Additionally, I have provided proxy parenting, overnight care, and attended parent-teacher meetings to relay feedback.
I have experience taking children to medical appointments and coordinating with health professionals such as physiotherapists and speech and language therapists to implement prescribed activities and therapies. My role has also involved assisting with weaning, potty training, and sleep training. I take pride in being adaptable and flexible, tailoring my approach to meet the unique needs and preferences of each family and child. Building positive rapport with family members is a core strength of mine.
Currently, my role includes food preparation, getting children ready, and facilitating their participation in various activities. For children requiring medication, I ensure timely and accurate administration. I also provide support for children with undiagnosed conditions, working closely with healthcare professionals and attending training sessions to support their needs.
In my current role at a preschool, I collaborate with staff to set up activities, supervise meals and snack times, assist with toileting, and support children in settling in. I engage children in diverse activities such as singing, reading, and painting physical activities. I also work with senior staff and SENCO to ensure consistent care for children with special educational needs.
Before transitioning to childcare, I worked in finance, but after my company went into administration, I chose to pursue my passion for childcare. This decision has been immensely fulfilling, and I have continued to enhance my skills through various childcare courses. My dedication to making a positive impact on every child I care for remains my foremost goal.

Dorothy looked after my son sometimes when he was 1yo and 2yo. She has a real natural talent for connecting with kids - he loved playing with her. She is warm, great fun, friendly and lovely to be around. She is also a great cook! Able to make foods filled with secret veg that kids actually eat.

Thank you so much for your kind words and support, even after all this time – I'm thrilled to hear that your son enjoyed our time together and appreciated my cooking!
Looked after our three boys very well. Kept them safe, fed them and put them to bed. Also washed up after them. Will highly recommend 😊
