About Me
Hi. I am Sue and I work as an Ofsted Registered Childminder and care for early years (0-5) children from my home address which is based in Toton NG9. I am rated GOOD in all areas of the inspection.
I attend a weekly soft play area and a toddler group with my little ones where we meet with other local Childminders and their little ones for a play session and chance for all the children and Childminders to socialise.
We visit the local nature reserve at Attenborough and more locally at Toton, Highfields and a local farm.
We have a local park where we like to also visit with swings, slide and climbing equipment.
The children also enjoy our time staying at home. We have a large wooden play house in the garden where the children can play with the kitchen, prams, dolls, work bench etc.
There are a variety of sit on/in cars, scooters etc for various ages as well as sand and water play.
Inside we have many resources which get changed regularly depending on the theme at the time.
We have music and singing time daily, Nursery rhymes, story time and painting/messy play.
I follow the EYFS with an assessment at around age 2 as a requirement. I am registered for taking children who qualify for funded hours. I also take childcare vouchers and I am registered for tax free childcare.
About me and my family.
I live with my partner Martyn who is registered as my assistant, one of my sons (Christopher), My dog Benji (labradoodle), my cat Apple and tortoises Sese and Spot.
Benji loves the children and they love him. Apple mostly stays asleep upstairs unless he needs to go out. The tortoises live in their tortoise house.
I have 5 children, all grown up. I also have 5 Grand Children who I see as much as possible.
My Experience
I have previously been registered as a Childminder while my children were young.
I stopped minding the first time as my son required a lot of hospital appointments.
I started minding again when he was older and only stopped again because I split from my husband & it wasn't practical to carry on as we lived in the same house for a year. I have been minding again since January 2010 and have no intention to ever do anything else.
My children are all grown up in their 30's and 40's now.
I have been minding for over 40 years, apart from the two breaks as mentioned.
My Qualifications
As well as being a mum to 5 children,5 grand children and being a registered childminder previously I am :-
full CRB (DBS) checked.
Have a Paediatric first aid certificate.
Have completed my Safeguarding children certificate.
I am also continuing my training with ongoing courses.
I am Ofsted rated 'GOOD' overall :-)

My son went to Sue from 9 months old when I returned to work and he is now at Nursery but still goes during half term. Sue is fantastic. She goes above and beyond with the children always doing fun days and tasks with them. My son loved going to sues and settled really well. A lovely homely environment. I would definitely recommend.

When I first started looking for a childminder when my eldest child was only a few months old, I knew Sue would be perfect for the job from the moment I met her. Her home was bright and welcoming and she was so friendly and immediately made me feel at ease (a feeling I hadn’t had in any other settings I’d visited up until that point).
Sue has cared for and nurtured my 2 children from when they were around 9 months old up until they started school (my youngest has just left her setting to start school this week). She has taught them so many new things, supported their development and treated them like part of her own family. Both my children loved the time they spent in Sue’s care and often wouldn’t want to leave at home time as they were having too much fun. My oldest child (now 6 years old) will still talk about things he used to do with Sue and has very fond memories of his early childhood experiences in her care. I really would 100% recommend Sue without hesitation to anyone looking for someone to care for their children.

Used Sue for all 3 of my children over the last 7 years.
It’s a very home from home setting and my children loved going there. Setting is always clean, welcoming and lots of activities for them to do. Sue always keeps parents up to date with how the children have been every session and works through each child’s development and learning. Kids loved going out on adventures and attending other groups. Sue will always help meet every parents requirements where she can. A*
