My Summary
About Me
I am a fun, loving, kind, active nanny who loves spending time with children. I grew up in the countryside, either running around in fields or baking all sorts of yummy treats. I love to cook, bake, read and spend time outdoors, amongst other things. I have recently taken a break from working with children but have been drawn back in, as it’s something I love doing. Before this, I had always worked with children, from hosting children's parties, holiday clubs, nannying and my last setting was in a Montessori based nursery. I am looking to get back in to nannying now and i am looking for a family to join long term.
My Experience
Junior Activities Assistant (2011 – 2013):
I was employed at Broadbridge Heath leisure centre as a Junior Activities Assistant for 2 years. What this means is that I helped lead parties for children, look after young children (for example in crèche), after school and all day holiday clubs between the ages of 1 to 13. To work with children you must be responsible, have patience and trustworthy. I love working with children and keeping them entertained and communicating. I also enjoy being able to teach them new things. I find it very rewarding.
I also have experience with young children with disabilities. I helped run a session once a week for where children with disabilities and their siblings can come and climb, learn and have fun in a safe environment. I taught them how to recognize shapes, colors, words etc. It was a very rewarding session for both me and the children because I could see them learning and growing.
Private Nanny (Feb 2013 - Oct 2014):
From 2013 I was a private nanny for a family of three children aged 3, 5 and 7 when I started. Being a nanny is the epitome of trust. You are being trusted to keep the children safe, to exercise discretion and to provide warmth and care . I am energetic, friendly and love being around children. My day to day duties for this job included getting the children up, fed and ready for school, general housekeeping for the children and parents, cook lunches and prepare dinners. I would also take the children to different activities and clubs, bath them and prepare them for bed. We would sit down and do homework, plan projects and learn to read and write. During the school holidays we loved going to the park, farms and meeting up for playdates. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with this family and loved watching the children grow.
Nursery Practitioner (Nov 2014 – March 2020):
From 2014-2020 I worked in a private day care setting in Cranleigh, where I achieved a Level 3 NVQ in Childcare. The day to day routine of a nursery is extensive, but some of the main attributes you need are; to be calm under pressure and stress, to be able to communicate effectively, to be able to work as a team, to have compassion and understanding, flexibility, time management and to be able to follow protocols efficiently. I feel I possess these qualities. There has often been debate about what makes a great nursery setting, and in my opinion, one of the main attributes are the people who work there. We are the first people the child and the parents see, so it is our job to make them feel welcome. Every person is different and I like to take the time to get to know an individual, so I can form a strong bond. Obviously the most important part of childcare are the children themselves and I take pride in my ability to care for them. I would also say one of my strengths is the relationships I have with the parents that come to our nursery as I feel like this is also immensely important.
I was my settings SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator) so I am able to assist in any additional needs that you may need help with.
Prison Officer (March 2020-Current)
I know what you’re thinking - you’re seeing the childcare work above and now looking at this and wandering, what happened? Honestly, I had worked with children my entire life, and decided i wanted to try something new and completely different.
Honestly speaking, the role I’m currently in has helped me gain an endless amount of patience, and an understanding that things may not always seem as they appear on the surface. It’s helped me learn to always prepare for the unexpected and to celebrate the small wins in a day just and much as the big ones.
But most importantly, it’s helped me remember why I loved working with children so much and that actually, I don’t want a completely different job - I want to be a nanny again.
And besides, if I can convince 200 prisoners to go behind their door at the end of the day, I can handle anything the terrible two’s throws at me..

I hold a NVQ Level 3 in Childcare
