My role as third in charge – responsible for the nursery if the manager and deputy were away. Other tasks included: ensuring we maintained child ratios and qualified/unqualified ratios in each room whilst members of staff were on lunch; showing prospective parents around the building; and giving them a detailed account of ratios, qualified members of staff and routines. This was in addition to my responsibilities caring for the children at the nursery.
? I was also room leader for the pre schooo room, working with 3-5 year olds. My responsibilities included compiling children's lunch numbers to include preferences and dietary requirements. And the day to day running of the room with general nursery duties, I also plan for my key group.

In a new open plan nursery in Wimbledon called the orchard day nursery working in the nursery from before it opened to help set up the toys and make plans for the rooms.Then once the nursery was open I was given a small key group and did the usual nursery duties. I then helped with the day to day runnings of the nursery and fulfilled some third in charge duties.

My responsibilities included: writing all planning for the room, maintaining ratios, having a key carer group where I planned for daily activities, took observations and completed a child learning journal of evidence for parents to see the child's development at that age. I gave each parent an individual update of the child’s progress in socializing, learning and general confidence within the room.
I gained a good knowledge of the ‘Early years foundation stage’ which is a scheme brought out nearly two years ago, based on the children's own individual learning, play and development.
