Hello my name is Jill and I have been married to Geoff for 40+ years and have four grown up children, 3 girls and a boy. All have flown the nest. I have 8 grand children.
We are a home based child minders. Our setting offers excellent care and learning opportunities/experiences in a fun safe caring environment. We promote 'have a go attitude' and choices to enable the children to achieve/succeed in all areas of learning and development. We encourage the children to explore their natural/wider environment facilitating and supporting risk taking with adult help.
I have been a child minding for over 20+ years after exiting a nursing career and have been graded Outstanding by Ofsted at every inspection for both care and education.
I work alongside Claire, Kate and Caitlin who are our Registered Assistants.
I hold 5 stars on the door certificate from Environmental Health 2024.
My Experience
We are CRB/DBS checked and have valid public liability insurance, and business insurance on all vehicles.
We update Paediatric 1st Aid and Resuscitation Training and Safeguarding Training as required, as well as attending courses to update/renew our knowledge and skills. I have attended Makaton courses and am competent in baby signing. We use Makaton signing to aid communication and assist children with speech/language.
We encourage working in partnership with parents/carers/families respecting family traditions and beliefs. We have experience of working with families where English is their second or third language. We have experience working with children with specific needs which includes speech & language, mobility issues, terminal illnesses, genetic conditions, autism, ADHD, Dyslexia.
We encourage two way communication with parents/carers and are willing to work with outside agencies with parental consent.
We are able to provide meals for all dietary requirements preparing and cooking all meals from scratch including those with intolerances, allergies, vegan/vegetarian. Weekly menus are provided.
We care for children aged 4 months to school age, and many of the older children we have cared for as babies still visit us on occasions for afternoon tea or just to say hi. It's lovely to keep in contact with them and see how they have developed into young adults.
Our setting covers the ground floor of the house, with a playroom and free-play equipment areas. We have a large walled back garden which is accessible to the children at all times. Garden equipment includes large wooden summer house used for role play, outside chalk and white board, external book rack and quiet reading corner, numerous bikes and scooters, a 4m heated swimming pool, sand and water trays etc, planting areas, sensory areas. Covered decked area with children’s furniture, blankets, rugs and cushions. The children are supervised at all times.
Activities include: Forest schools, beach and visits to woodland areas, outings, library, music/dance sessions with professional pianist and song time, yoga, daily craft and sensory activities, baking, IT, books, role play, story sacs and so much more.
We offer a toy and story sack lending facility.
We offer Free For 2 and 30 Hours Funding for 3-4 year olds. 9mth-2 year funding.w
