My Summary
About Me
I'm a mature 29 year old, who has been studying for various qualifications to help me gain a firm knowledge and understanding of children and their development since I started my GCSEs in 2009.
I'm very easy to get along with and have always been told how mature I come across. I like to think I'm good fun when caring for children but equally good at handling difficult situations and behaviour.
I am a very big family person. My family mean everything to me, and being able to be part in the youngest family members lives, helping them, with my qualifications and experience gives me a sense of great pride.
I live with my partner, in a quiet village about 10 miles out of Taunton, but I am willing to travel as I have my own 5 door car, and a full, clear driving license.
I'm very much in support of helping children to thrive in their development through the means of play, especially outdoors. Whatever the weather, I love to be outside, going on long walks, exploring and experiencing the world we live in.
I am a firm believer that children learn at their very best when they are their own educators, gaining what they can from the experiences around them. I put this belief to the test when helping to care for my three nephews and niece. I am trusted on a regular basis to care for the children for long periods, both during the day and throughout the night.
I believe children gain a lot from socialising with their peers, and so because of this, I would be willing to take children in my care to varying groups, where they would be able to experience this.
My Experience
Since the age of 14, I had regular babysitting jobs. These were both during the evening, and throughout the school holidays I would care for the children thought the day time as well.
Since 2012/2013, while studying at university, I worked as bank staff in a local nursery, and once qualified I became a deputy at the same nursery. I went on to be a SEN Teaching Assistant at a local school for a year, before becoming a member of the health visiting team in a local town.
My Qualifications
I have:
A grade at GCSE in Child Development,
I studied Psychology, Health and Social Care and Biology at A-Level,
I have a foundation degree in Early Childhood Studies, through Plymouth University.
I have attended courses on: child protection, first aid, STC and Early Years SENCo's and many more.
I am willing to gain any other training that may be needed for a particular aspect of any job.
