About Me

Hi, i am Mariella. I am an ofsted registered childminder through an agency called tiney.

I am a 5 minute walk from Dalston station, a 15 minute walk from Canonbury station, a 10 minute walk from Southgate Road, and a 5 minute walk from Newington green. The closest train stations to me are Dalston junction, Haggerston, Essex Road, and Canonbury. Bus routes are a 5 minute walk to me.

I have 18 years of experience working with babies and young children. I gained the majority of my experience with Bright Horizons Nursery, where i worked there for 13 years. I started off as a nursery assistant, i soon realised that i was able to understand support guide and flourish young children's development. I found i was able to help them to gain confidence, self-esteem, independence, and stability and support them with the daily challenges they faced and the feelings and emotions they experienced. They took to me extremely well as they trusted they could come to me to meet their needs, wants, and interests as well as learn through play and was able to achieve their biggest milestones. I realised i had built up secure positive relationships with many families and their children.

I wanted to learn more about child development and studied childrens and young people's workforce, gaining a level 3 diploma in childcare, learning about nuerological brain development, different theorists, and the importance of the hierarchy of needs along with my first hand experiences.

I then became a qualified nursery nurse and worked with all ages of babies and children, ranging from the ages of 4 months to 5 years, then progressing to a nursery room leader managing a class of up to 30 children.

When i decided to become a childminder, i researched and found tiney, i loved what i was seeing and hearing from them and decided to register with them for many reasons, one of them being that they take care of the paperwork side of things. Tiney provides a secure, safe app for childminders and parents to use on a daily basis, which allows parents to receive regular updates on their child's day with me, along with their learning and development. Tiney also provides a GP service for parents.

My home is fully equipped with safe age appropriate resources to help your child learn effectively and positively through play. I have small wooden tables and chairs and furniture at the children's level. The resources are regularly swapped around to suit the children's needs and interests and coincide with their learning, the curriculum and the EYFS along with development matters. When the babies grow and develop with me, at the age of 1 years they are transitioned from a highchair to a low wooden chair at the table, learning to use cutlery and eat independently, serve themselves, and pour their own water preparing them for their near future at nursery. They are later encouraged supported and guided to put on their own coat and shoes where they would have previously had planned activities using fine motor skills to help undo velcro and zips for this.

The babies and children are regularly taken out on a daily basis to local parks, playgroups, outings, libraries and are involved in music sessions within the community to support their physical development, communication and language development and their personal social and emotional development.

I regularly meet with another childminder where we plan outdoor and indoor activities together.

I am able to follow the child's routine and follow parents requirements prefences and requests where necessary.

I offer settling in sessions that are spread out over a number of hours and days to support your child at no cost.

My setting is an inclusive setting where all children from different cultures nationalities and developmental stages are welcome.

I am open Monday- Friday from 830am - 550pm. I take 5 weeks holiday per year which are taken as unpaid.

Our daughter has been with Mariella since she was 6 months old. Even though Mariella had recently opened her nursery at the time and no OFSTED report was available we decided to trust her because she had 18 years' experience working in nurseries and she had amazing references from parents. We could not have make a better choice. A few months later, Mariella's first Quality Assurance Report came out and, without surprise, she received the "outstanding" score.
Our daughter is so happy with Mariella, she always organises great activities for the kids (day trip to the museum, the parcs, playgroups, water parc, playing in her garden...). She is very involved in the kids' development and also helps with routine adjustment when needed. Mariella's house is my daughter's second home and it's great to see her so happy when she joins every morning. I highly recommend Mariella if you are looking for a childminder in the borough of Islington / Hackney.
