About Me
My name is Fiona Smith and I have been a registered childminder since October 2008. I am registered with the Care Inspectorate and am a member of the Scottish Childminding Association. I live in the New Carron area of Falkirk with my 22 year old daughter and our labrador. We live in a semi-detached house in a quiet street and have a large, enclosed garden and 3 play parks in close proximity.
My Experience
Before becoming a childminder, I worked for several years in a local primary school as an Advanced Support for Learning Assistant, providing additional support for young children with learning difficulties. I have worked with children with a range of different issues including autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, cerebral palsy, hearing impairment and personal care issues.
My Qualifications
To become registered, I attended a training course organised by the Scottish Childminding Association which covered topics such as Child Protection, First Aid and How to Meet the Needs of Children. I have since attended further training courses on Child Protection, Equality of Opportunity, Keeping Children Safe & Healthy and Supporting Children's Learning & Development. I also hold a level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene certificate.
My training is ongoing and I have recently completed my SVQ3 in Social Services (Children & Young People). I am inspected regularly by the Care Inspectorate and hold an Enhanced Disclosure Scotland certificate and PVG.
My Availability
I am available to work between the hours of 8am and 5.30pm, Tuesday to Friday.
