My Summary
About Me
I am a mother of three with a passion for looking after children and enjoy watching each individual child within my care growing and developing in confidence, their learning and experiences. I find working with children and families extremely rewarding (and a lot of fun).As my own children are now growing up fast I have found more time to dedicate myself to educating others and am expanding on my years of experience of working with young children.
My Experience
SEP ’04 – JUL ’06 – Luton Salvation Army Parents and Toddler Group – Play-worker
Duties included planning for and setting out toys and activities, including craft for children and their parents to enjoy together. I also regularly supported parents providing them with appropriate advice and information when requested or required.
SEP ’06- AUG ‘08’ – Whipperley Infant School and Wonderland Day-care Nursery
This was assessed, professional practical experience included within the Cache diploma course studied. It included supporting teachers and childcare professionals with various activities, routines, displays and paperwork and working closely with children, supporting their learning and development. I was also required to plan, carry out and evaluate activities and group sessions as part of my coursework.
SEP ’08 – MAR‘13 – Wonderland Day-Care Nursery, Luton – Senior Childcare Practitioner
Duties included planning in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum framework for children between the ages of 3 and 5 years. As a keyworker, I was responsible for keeping up to date up to 12 individual children’s development profiles, monitoring their progress through regular observations and assessments. This included working in partnership with parents and carers from a variety of cultural and religious backgrounds, who I had contact with on a daily basis, keeping them informed of their child’s development and sharing information. I also took part in several annual parents’ evenings and coordinated with teachers when children moved onto primary schools.
When leading the setting in completing cohort trackers to assess not only individuals and groups, but the nursery as a whole, I identified strengths and weaknesses in practice and put into place successful action plans to improve all individual children’s advancements. I was involved in many safe-guarding procedures, from recording and logging incidents, to liaising with Local Authority boards and representatives from other agencies, in relation to specific children who were a cause for concern. This included having regular communications with health professionals such as speech therapists.
MAR ’13 – MAR '15– Harpenden Day Nursery – Room Supervisor
My everyday duties were similar to the above, however within this role I also led my own team of staff within the 2 year old room, guiding them in their work and supporting them whenever required. I like to think that I set good examples when interacting with children, parents and other staff members and was able to give sound advice and inspiration when needed. In my role I have, over time, I altered routines, rotas and paperwork to ensure smoother running of the room and implemented new activity ideas to provide a variety of learning opportunities for the children attending. I worked together with other room leaders to improve on the use and availability of resources, the coordinating of staff within the setting to ensure ample cover in each room where staff had been absent or on leave and shared ideas with regards planning play opportunities for children. When children were progressing through the different rooms as they got older I liaised with others to ensure transitions flowed well and ensured consistency. As a member of the senior team I was responsible for ensuring policies and procedures were carried out accordingly and worked together with the management team to implement any new practices.
MAR '15 -MAR '17 - St Matthews Primary School
I worked within the reception classes mainly working with individuals who required a bit more support but also took small group sessions for topic and daily work such as mathematics, phonics or experimental activities. I also led whole class sessions focused on literacy, liaised with parents and families and helped to keep individual children's profiles up to date.
AUG '17 - PRESENT - Childminding during the week before and after school and throughout the day with younger ones. I ensure excellent communication levels and relationships with parents and children are upheld by providing daily, weekly and termly reports, meetings and time for informal chats. My parents have been very happy with the care I provide and I have previous parents references and comments that will be shared with you at our first meeting.

My one year old daughter loves Jenny and her family and is very secure/settled in her care. She smiles as soon as we get near Jenny's house and reaches out to be cuddled by her when she opens the door. She's always very happy when I pick her up and I feel completely confident that she has a nice time and is well looked after. Jenny is a warm, nurturing and calm person and I feel very lucky that I found her to look after my daughter while I'm working. Thanks so much Jenny :)
