My Summary
About Me
From July I will be looking for work.
In May I will be training as a doula, and very pleased to offer potential clients this added facility.
Now about me?????
Hi, Thanks for looking me up. I am very outgoing, full of confidence, very tidy and organised, I love children and have dedicated my life to working with them from a very young age.
I am happily married with three gorgeous children ranging in age from 27 down to 21. My youngest is studying forensic investigation, at University. Help! Where has the time gone?
I also have two stepsons who are 39 & 36.
I have a great sense of humour, but temper that with discipline as required.
One of my favourite quotes is:
Children need your presence rather than presents!
My Experience
Quoting one of my favourite lines from the Sound of Music
Let's start at the very beginning:
On leaving school at 16, I worked in London as a mothers help for two years, decided it was something I wanted to do professionally and attended college from 1982-84. I obtained my NNEB certificate and also a distinction in spoken English.
After qualifying I was fortunate to secure a position in Miami, Florida for 12 months, looking after a little boy with Downs Syndrome. Sadly I couldn't extend my visa and had to return to the UK.
I decided to try a spot of temporary nannying after leaving the states, as you can imagine, it was quite an upheaval, hence the temporary positions.
This also led into maternity positions, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
I have been very fortunate to have worked for titled people and the occasional celebrity. References available on request.
Following this I joined P&O Cruise lines and worked in The Junior Club, with a fantastic team entertaining children of all ages.
I cruised round the world four times and saw some wonderful places, some not so nice too!
As my cruising career reached an end, I met my wonderful husband, the last 20+ years have been spent enjoying married life and raising my gorgeous kids. I am slightly biased:)
When my eldest who is nearly 27 started kindergarten, I was lucky to find a job in the same primary school, this continued on and off throughout maternity leave until my final child, my little princess. I decided to be a stay at home mum for personal reasons.
When my daughter started school, I worked on a temporary basis for my husband in accounts and admin. I love him deeply, but eating, sleeping, working and living together drove us both mad, so I decided it was time to return to my first Love: Childcare.
In November 2010 I became a learning support assistant in a local primary school. I worked with years 4,5 and 6, supporting their learning, taking some groups and on the odd occasion was left in sole charge of a class of 26.
I was also very fortunate to work with early years too, supporting the class teacher with phonics, numeracy and those children requiring more one to one support.
My duties varied from day to day, but organisation and tidiness were paramount, something I pride myself on.
In September 2018, I made the decision to leave my job to care for my 97yr old mother in law. Sadly she contracted pneumonia 2 months later and passed away.
After a few months off, my friends recommended me for a Nannying
position local to me.
In all honesty I wasn’t sure, but went for an interview, met the family and have loved every minute.
Both parents are professionals and were looking for someone to help with their then 4yr old boy diagnosed with ASD, ADHD & PDA. He also had a gorgeous sister who was then 15 months.
I worked with the family from April 2019 to August 2021. It was very challenging, but intensely rewarding.
Sadly come September 2021 the youngest was starting school so it was time for me to spread my wings and find alternative employment.
Following on from my position with the above family, I was very fortunate to secure another job looking after a boy of 4 and a girl of 6. Sadly the parents were separating, I worked for dad as they shared the childcare.
This was a very difficult time for all concerned, especially the children who were having to adjust to major changes. Throwing a stranger into the mix obviously compounded their anxiety. I’m delighted to say we soon became firm friends and I’m going to miss them.
It wasn’t long before I had found another position looking after two little girls. 3 & 9 months. They are totally adorable and very sassy too!
The past 19 months have been mainly spent with the younger child as her older sibling went to nursery every day.
We have enjoyed going to many local groups and witnessing her confidence grow has been incredible. During the holidays I also looked after her older sister.
We have spent many a day out enjoying a variety of activities from zoos, farms, parks, catching up with other local Nannies as well as cooking & craft.
Unfortunately the family circumstances have changed and I will no longer be required. Hence the need to look for alternative employment.
I would love to chat if you think I can help you.
