About Me
I am a mum of two, currently about to finish up my registration process as a childminder. I love my job and am passionate about working with children and their wellbeing.
I am qualified nursery and primary school teacher and am widely read in the latest theories on child development and apply these when working with children. I understand the importance of play for learning and know how to facilitate both adult and child lead play.
I am fun, fair, compassionate and kind. I know that working with children is a gift and work hard to nurture the precious little people in my care.
My Experience
Before having my daughters, I taught in a local primary school. During my years teaching I taught across the age ranges but specialised in the early years and Key Stage One. My teaching practise has given me a great insight into the development of speech, reading and writing as well as behaviour management. Working with younger children has taught me the importance of play for learning. Working with a class of 30, often without a teaching assistant, has helped me to very easily manage my little charges and allows me to both care and educate the children I work with.
Once my daughter reached 10 months, I started to work as a nanny for children of a similar age group with my daughter in tow! I found this a wonderful way to socialise both children but still provide that all important close bond between carer and child, which is vital for a child's sense of self and wellbeing. I have also found children learn from one another both socially and developmentally as well as learning how to interact with one another.
When my youngest daughter was two I started thinking about my childminding as I realised just how much I enjoy these early years and wanted to carry on working with this age group. So I registered and am just in the process of finishing up my registration ready to start on January!
I am warm, nurturing, fun and fair. I love spending my days with little people and helping them learn and grow.
