My Summary
About Me
For me the idea of not working with children is hard to fathom, as they have been a significant part of my life since my first nannying job, which was just over 20 years ago. Children fill me with inspiration and I admire their natural curiosity, creativity and energy; qualities that I myself wish never to lose. I decided to become a teacher after having my own child and embarked on my four year journey towards achieving this in 2002. Despite being a qualified teacher, I view myself primarily as a nurturer, facilitator and promoter of self belief, self esteem and self empowerment.
With regards to my personal qualities, I feel that I am an enthusiastic and energetic individual who is compassionate, conscientious and a natural communicator. I am deeply inspired by nature and my cultural environment and I am a great believer in broadening children’s experience and understanding of the world around them. I consider myself to be a creative person and therefore aspire to being a creative provider. I pride myself on the way I work; the way I conduct myself, and the way that I engage with and respond to those around me.
My Experience
I have worked with children ever since the age of 17. I started off as a nanny and then went on to train as a primary teacher after having my own child. Additional roles that I have had, working with children, include a 1:1 tutor/mentor for a teenage boy with complex needs, a volunteer working with vulnerable inner city children and an early years manager for the children’s holiday camp Barracudas.
I am an enthusiastic, creative and experienced teacher, who has taught in a mainstream primary school, a secondary pupil referral unit (SEN) and as a Primary Nurture Practitioner. In addition to class based roles, I have also worked as a learning and language specialist teacher for North West Surrey and was a Governess for a private Russian family.
Please see my CV for details of my various roles, the skills that I have developed and my particular strengths.
My Qualifications
I am a qualified primary teacher and also a qualified Nurture Practitioner. I'm also a certified Adolescent Mental Health First Aider, have completed a number of child protection courses and various SEN training.
My Availability
My ideal post would be 3 - 4 days a week (full time hours). In addition to this, I can offer occasional babysitting and weekend work.
