About Me
I live with my husband and two daughters and our little collection of family pets. I became a Registered Childminder with Ofsted in 2002 after deciding not to return to a career in Corporate Banking when my second daughter was born and have been childminding ever since. My eldest daughter went to a childminder when she was small so I've experienced things from both sides of the fence. I know what it's like to be the parent leaving your child with someone else along with all the worries and anxieties that can bring and I obviously know what it is like to care for other peoples children, with all the responsibilities that entails.
My Experience
I believe children thrive in a homely caring environment and I have always treated my childminded children as an extension to my own family. I have looked after children from all different sorts of backgrounds and cultures and from families who need childcare for all different sorts of reasons. I'm also willing to accept children who may need that little bit of 'extra' support and I have cared for children with both medical and special educational needs. My Ofsted Inspection gradings in 2007, September 2010 and January 2016 were all 'Outstanding' the highest level you can achieve and only to given to practitioners who consistently work to exceptionally high standards and levels of care. This is a grade I'm very proud off and I feel reflects my attitude and passion for what I do. In March 2020 we did it again! Despite a new even more rigorous framework for assessing inspection outcomes we were absolutely delighted when we were awarded our fourth consecutive ‘Outstanding’ grading. There are currently only three settings, us and two others in the whole of East Sussex to hold four consecutive ‘Outstanding’ gradings. A phenomenal achievement considering there are in excess of 400 childcare providers in East Sussex.
My Qualifications
I received an 'Outstanding' grading at my last 4 Ofsted Inspections 2007, 2010, 2016 and 2020. I hold a NVQ level 3 in Early Years Care & Education, I also have a Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care. I am trained in Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding children ( Child protection), Food Hygiene and Infection Control. I also undertake regular training throughout the year to maintain and develop my knowledge of the latest childcare strategies.

My Fees
- Childminding from £6.15 per hour
Please contact me to discuss. Please note we are open Tuesday to Thursday 46 weeks of the year and we operate a minimum 2 day attendance policy to include the core hours of 9am-3pm, ie children to attend 2 days a week, at least 6 hours per day. Sessions can be longer than this but not shorter and you can do more than two days if required. New children will still be offered settling sessions starting at just 2 hours duration, which gradually build up to the full session as they gain confidence and become more settled with us.

Kim and her team have been amazing with both my girls who each started at 6 months old. My eldest is 3 years old and if I ask her what she’d like to do at weekends she will often say “I want to go to Kim’s house!”
My first was very colicky and my second refused to take a bottle but I trusted Kim with them 100%, she even helped us resolve some issues with feeding!
Kim has worked with our difficult work/shift patterns and always been flexible and understanding. I would highly recommend ❤️

My husband and I were looking for a part time childminder for our 6 month old daughter ahead of my return to work. Childcare.co.uk introduced me to Kim Smith based in Broad Oak. We visited Kim with our daughter and experienced first hand a group of very happy, well mannered and incredibly busy little ones! Kim's enthusiastic approach to all of the children's development and her skilled and experienced approach to ensuring their progress shines through. The stimulating and educational environment she has created for all of the children is every little one's ideal.
We highly recommend KIm and her team of assistants if you are looking for a loving and nurturing family environment for your little ones. The whole team are parents themselves with a genuine love of children.I can honestly say that my daughter is giddy with delight when I collect her in the afternoon and and I know that she will continue to thrive in the company of all the other happy little ones in Kim and her team's care.
