My Summary
About Me
I am married with 3 grown up children and have been a registered childminder with CSSIW since 1993.
Prior to my marriage I worked in Austria for 11 years. After working as an au pair for the first 2 years I did a 2 year training course in Home and Child Care.
I then took a job with the local charity working with families where the mother was absent(hospital, death, prison). This involved taking over the care of the children and the running of the house on a daily basis until the situation improved.
On returning to Britain I worked for a year as an auxiliary nurse on the cardio thoracic ward in St Bartholomew's Hospital in London.
Presently I live in a detached house with garden overlooking the playing fields.
My Experience
I aim to provide a stimulating, safe and happy environment for the children through play, outings and adult-led activities (mother and toddler groups, soft play, shopping, trips to the library and train trips.)
I aim to meet each child's needs wherever possible.
I am able to look after boys and girls between the ages of 0 -11, collecting from St Illtyds Nursery and Primary School.
I am restricted by law to a maximum of 6 children under the age of 8 of whom no more than 3 may be under 5 years old and no more than 2 under 18 months old.
Care is provided through the English language
I will not deny a place to a child with special needs but I must be confident that I can offer the best possible care as at present I do not have any specific training in this area.
I have a full range of facilities including a playroom, a separate sleeping area with a cot, downstairs toilet, off road parking and a garden backing onto playing fields and park
I am inspected regularly.
A copy of policies and procedures is available to all parents.
As a childminder I will try to:
Provide a happy, safe, caring and supportive environment.
Encourage the children to take care of their environment.
Encourage the children to have consideration and respect for one another.
Inform parents of their child's progress.
Be open, honest and welcoming to parents.
My Qualifications
I have current First Aid certificate, FGM awareness Level 2, Child Protection Level 2, The Prevent Duty Level 2.
I also have completed a course on Improving Children's Learning through Play.
Safeguarding Level 3
My Availability
I have spaces for 2 part time children under the age of 5 and vacancies every day for before and after school. Please email or phone for details

Our daughter (3 years old) has been going to Margy's 3 days a week since January and in that time we have seen her really thrive under Margy's care. She absolutely loves going there and is always full of chat about what she's done each day after we pick her up. Margy offers a full range of activities, from going to the park, the ramps, picnics, taking the train to soft play, and mixing with children under the care of other childminders. In addition, she always ensures the children she cares for are exposed to lots of fun and varied activities when in the house and garden and has an impressive collection of toys and games in her playroom. Before moving to Llantwit, we had lived in Cardiff where our daughter was at a nursery but we have found this situation to be much better for her as she gets more individual attention and in a short space of time, she has built a strong bond with Margy and has made some really great friends with other children her age and talks about her new buddies constantly! I'm sure these are friendships that will continue for a long time. I would not hesitate to recommend Margy to anyone and I'm sure we will be using her for many years to come.

My daughter has been with Margy 2 days a week for the past 9 months and absolutely loves going. She enjoys a wide range of activities with her from painting, drawing, den building and lots of outdoor play. Margy provides a happy and safe environment for the children she looks after and has been very patient with my daughter and her fussy eating habits. My daughter also enjoys going on regular days out with Margy to the park and softplay. I would highly recommend Margy, she provides a lovely welcoming environment and I know my daughter has the best care whilst with her.

Margy has regularly looked after my daughter since she was a year old. During that time Cerys has developed a special relationship with her and is always pleased to be with her. I have been extremely happy with the care Margy has given her. She arranges a range of activities to support development as well as day experiences like going to the shops. Most importantly they always have a lot of fun and it cheers up my day to receive pictures and messages of what they have been up to.
Cerys likes eating the healthy meals offered with the other children. She has gained a lot of confidence with a children of different ages, making friends along the way. Her favourite activities are going on the train and cooking.
Margy always makes time to let you know what they have been up to that day and discuss progress. Most importantly I know when I drop her off she will be well looked after and entertained. The environment she offers is a home from home. Having just had another child I will not hesitate in using Margy again.

I have been using margy siince 1 of my daughters was 18 months old she is now 10 years. My third daughter has been with margy since she was 1 year old she is now 8 years old. I feel that margy provides for my children the best opportunities, interaction, postive reinforcements that I could wish for. Margy is very accommodating, friendly, and enhances my children's abilities in a very friendly environment. Margy I feel is very much part of my children's family and throughly enjoy the time spent with her and her family.

Margi has been looking after my two children for the past seven years in total, having previously used a nursery we seriously regretted not utilising her services sooner. My youngest spent three days with her each week before beginning full time school and both have gone for before and after school care.
Margi has a great energy and imagination there is always something constructive for the children to do, In inclement weather that are generally indoors either playing games or doing arts and crafts. Margay has a beautiful garden which backs on to the local park and playing fields ideal for the children. Mine have often had tea at Margys and sre offered a variety of healthy foods as well as treats, her Xmas biscuits are a real hit.
I am always impressed by how well the children are when I arrive as there are several of varying ages but all are occupied and seem happy.
I would wholeheartedly recommend her services she has proved invaluable to us over the years.
