My name is Elizabeth Cummings ( busy lizzies buzzy bees) and I am a registered childminder.
I live with my husband and 3 boy's . I hold a HNC in Early Years and Childcare as well as all the qualifications required to be a registered childminder. My own professional development is very important to me as I feel it is important to keep up to date with current academic thinking and changes in government policies, I take advantage of the courses offered an ensure I am always evaluating myself.
As a mother myself I appreciate the pressures of returning to work and the anxieties you experience as a parent when placing your child in childcare. With this in mind, my approach to childminding is flexible, family-friendly and adaptable to give you all the necessary reassurance that I’m providing quality childcare in a safe, caring home environment to help enable your child to develop to their full potential.
Whilst under my care, I take the children out and about as much as possible to a variety of locations including parks, the library, playgroups, play centres and local events. Likewise, I promote a healthy attitude towards food from an early age – providing a healthy mix of foods and encouraging the children wherever appropriate to help or be involved with the preparation of their meals or snacks, which in turn encourages them to try a wider variety of foods.
I have my own car, a full (clean) driving licence and am fully insured. I love learning more about my field of work and am committed to gaining as much knowledge as I can with regards to childcare and child development. I am looking to attend a number of additional courses this year to further develop myself in this area and in turn improve the childcare service I'm able to provide.
Childminding is more than just a job to me, I am passionate about providing every child in my care the opportunity to not only reach his or her full potential, but also to experience a warm, loving, home based environment. I believe in working in partnership with parents/ carers, as without their knowledge about their child, I cannot provide the play based curriculum which is planned around each child’s interests, likes, stage of development and family experiences.
