My Summary
About Me
My name is Karen Battle; I live with my husband Jeff and my three children Max, Oliver and Evie. My home is situated close to the local primary school and the park.
I am an Ofsted registered Childminder and have been since 2006. I am registered to care for a maximum of six children under eight years, of whom no more than three may be in the early year’s age range.
When I am working I use the ground floor of my home, this includes a play room, quite room, dining room, kitchen and a down stairs bathroom. I can also use the upstairs bathroom if it is needed. I have a fully enclosed back garden, the children using the garden have access to a large play house, an outdoor kitchen as well as bats, balls, ride on’s etc. I also have a small fully enclosed front outdoor play area, children can play with small ride on’s, bats, balls, mini golf, giant snakes and ladders and a basketball net.
I take and collect children in my care to the local school, Lees Primary, I am also happy to drop off and collect from local nurseries and pre-school’s.
Before I became a Childminder, I attended Shipley collage to achieve my National Diploma in Childhood Studies, after that I worked as nursery nurse in various different private day nursery’s including Burley Nursery School and Childcare Centre in Burley In Wharfedale, Menston Day Nursery and Busy Bears Day Nursery in Skipton. I also worked as a private nanny for two families in Baildon.
I really enjoy Childminding, being at home, spending time with my own children and working is the perfect balance for my family. All the children (minded and my own) feel like they have an extended family and the older children who attend Lees Primary School all feel as though they are in their own little ‘club’ and look out for each other in the playground and at lunch time.
Most evenings you will find me dashing out of the door as the last child leaves so I can take my children to their clubs and activities. My children are actively involved in Scouting and Guiding, as am I. I run East Morton Brownies and have done since 1999; my ‘Brownie name’ is Snowy Owl. My eldest two children swim competitively and all three children are members of Bingley Lifesaving club, as you can imagine this keeps me very busy on an evening.
At the weekends I enjoy spending time away with my family in our caravan, we spend most of the time cycling, walking and swimming.
My Experience
I am an OFSTED registered childminder and a qualified nursery nurse, I have been working with children in a professional environment since leaving collage in 1999.
I registered with OFSTED as a childminder in 2006 and have been enjoying what I do ever since.
My Qualifications

I have also completed my -
First aid training

We're so lucky we found Karen. Our little boy has been going to Karen for about a year and he loves it there. She creates a wonderful environment for the smalls, and her family are also all wonderful with our little boy. A true home away from home
Karen is an amazing childminder and currently looks after my son and daughter. My son has attended from the age of 4 and my daughter has been with karen for 3 full days a week from the age of 2 and loves it. My daughter was very clingy but settled well with karen. Karen is warm, caring and fantastic at what she does. The children in the setting always appear happy and are like a little extended family. I can’t recommend Karen enough she’s been the best childminder I have come across.

Thank you so very much for your review, it means a lot. Xx
My little girl started with Karen at the age of 9 months and has flourished in her care. Every day with Karen and her family was seen as a treat and highly anticipated (a good bribe to get out of the house!).
Karen ensures that all needs are met with the highest standard and I couldn’t thank her enough. We have relocated and that’s the only reason we don’t go to Karen’s. Tempted to commute if it wasn’t 3 hours away!!
My children went to Karen three days a week. My eldest girl went before and after school and youngest went from 8am till 5:30. They absolutely loved it, due to change of circumstance I no longer need childcare. My little boy is only 2 and very clingy I was nervous that he wouldn’t want to go but he absolutely loves Karen and we had no problems. My favourite thing about Karen’s services is how much the children experience they go to st Ives, eureka, dragons den and always seem to be occupied. I would highly recommend Karen.
