My Experience

I have been babysitting for children of all ages since I was 13 and this is what started my passion for childcare.
Before I set off on my travels I was a live out nanny for a family with 2 children (aged 2 & 5) for just over a year and a half. My duties in this role included:

>School runs (for the 5 year old)
> Taking the 2 year old to playgroups/play dates
> Preparing Meals
> Washing / Ironing
> Help with homework
> Encouraging creative play and teaching numbers, shapes, colours etc. (to the 2 year old)
> Tidying and sorting out playroom/ bedrooms
>Organising play dates/ birthday parties
> Bath and bedtime routine
> basic house hold duties (dishwasher etc.)

This job required me to be very flexible and willing to stay extra hours if need be.

When I was in Australia I was a Live in Nanny/Au Pair for 4 months for a family in Sydney with 2 children (Aged 8months and 3 years). The 3 year old girl attended Kindergarten Monday-Wednesday so my duties would include:

>The sole care of the 8 month old, following a strict routine with sleeps and feeds.
> basic house hold duties (dishwasher, hovering and tidying etc.)
> Interacting and playing with the children
> Bath and bedtime routine

After my travels I became an apprentice in a local Nursery school whilst completing my childcare qualification, and now have a level 3 diploma in Early years. Once I completed my qualification I was promoted to Pre school Room leader where I was given more responsibility within the setting.

My room leader role taught me a lot, and gave me the opportunity to explore my skills. I was required to provide an enabling environment to support children of all abilities with their holistic development. Early this year I made a change and became a Reception Teaching assistant at a local independent school and really enjoyed the opportunity to learn additional skills, including specific handwriting support training and Read, Write Inc. (Phonics) groups.

Unfortunately this role was cut short due to our unexpected global pandemic but I wish to continue my childcare career in any way possible.

Preferably part-time within the hours specified but with the right opportunity I am open to discussing full time options too.

• Nannying from £9.50 per hour (gross)
