My Experience

Childminding Assistant - June- September 2015 and June- September 2016.

Whilst I was back from university for the summer holidays I worked alongside a childminder. I had to ensure I helped the childminder follow the full EYFS requirements within the setting. We focused strongly on arts and crafts, creative play, writing, reading and an abundance of outside activities, this gave the children the opportunity to explore and express themselves through the environment and the different objects provided. Within my job role I had to walk the children to and from school.

Nursery practitioner - September 2015- June 2017

I worked as a nursery practitioner whilst I was studying for my degree. I worked in the baby room, toddler room and pre school room. I had eight key children which involved carrying out activities that linked to the EYFS requirements and the characteristics of effective learning. I also had to keep on top of their individual target tracker.

Teaching Assistant and After School/ Holiday Nanny - September 2017 - March 2020

I was a teaching assistant in a reception class. This role included supporting the children's social and emotional development, assisting the teacher in managing challenging behaviour, and promoting positive behaviour. I carried out a range of interventions such as handwriting and fine motor skills, maths, lego therapy, phonics, child initiated writing and social and emotional group work. After my school day finished I then cared for two girls aged 5 and 2 in the evenings. This role included collecting the girls from school, ensuring their safety in the car and on public transport and helping with homework tasks. I organised fun and stimulating activities, prepared healthy meals and snacks and got the girls ready for their bed time routine. The role also involved housework duties such as cleaning, washing and encouraging the girls to tidy up.

Sole Charge Nanny - April 2020- October 2022

I was a nanny for a family of four children. The ages of the children were 10, 7, 4 and 18 months. I homeschooled three of the children during lockdown. Once they were back to school I would drop and pick up the children safely, prepare healthy snacks and nutritious meals, take them to after school clubs, bath them and occasionally put them to bed. In the school holidays we used to go to the park, have play dates, go swimming, go to national trust places and have fun days at home cooking and organising arts and crafts.

Sole charge Nanny - January 2023- Present

I am currently a sole charge nanny for two children aged 3 and 16 months.
I currently drop and pick up the 3 year old from nursery and take 16m to fun playgroups and educational classes.
I maintain a good feeding and sleeping routine for toddler.
I develop activities for school holidays and try to plan ahead including arts and crafts, social outings and fun children’s classes.
Throughout my day I prepare nutritious meals and organise meal plans as well as sort the children’s washing.
