About Me
My name is Vicky Reid and I live with my husband and three amazing children in Caterham on the Hill. I have a son, Alex (1999) who is working on his Electrical Apprenticeship. My two daughters Sienna (2011) & Autumn (2014) attending De Stafford and Hillcroft Primary School. We live in a terraced house, with fully enclosed garden, walking distance to Hillcroft Primary School, 2 local parks and The Arc. We are a pet free and smoking free household. I am offering full or part time childcare provision to children and their parents, in the local area. At present I drop off and collect for Hillcroft Primary school.
My Experience
I chose to become a childminder to not only have the opportunity to engage with my own children on a daily basis, but to enrich the learning experiences of others within a home environment. I strongly believe that children learn best and are able to experience new things, when in a safe and caring setting and in the company of enthusiastic and dedicated people. I have worked as a primary school teacher for the last 11 years and have a vast amount of experience working with and teaching children, from Reception age (4+) to Yr 6 (11). I have a real enthusiasm for sports and being active, we are a very active family, not only do we provide our own children with opportunities to dance, play team games, swim and experience the outdoors, we openly encourage children to participate in similar activities within the setting. Having taught English, Maths and Science in school to an ‘Outstanding’ standard, I have the knowledge and skills to support children with homework, phonics and SAT’s revision at KS1 and 2. My children and I are very creative and enjoy activities that enrich their learning experiences, from cooking to colouring, messy play to making music, carrying out investigations to role play. All activities selected to engage children through play and draw out learning experiences through key questioning skills. I have been childminding for 8yrs.
My Qualifications
I have a BSc Honnors Degree in Sports Science (2001). I am a Qualified Primary Teacher, and have been for 11 years. I am ChIP (Childminder Induction Programme) trained (Nov 2015) and hold a Paediatric Frist Aid certificate (Dec 2015). I am a Level 1 Football Coach (2006) and school based swimming teacher (2015).

We approached Vicky as a short term emergency solution to our childcare needs and were able to avail of her services for eight weeks or so. We were delighted with her friendly approach to caring for our 3 year old little boy. Her background as a teacher meant not only did our little man enjoy playing but he learned a huge amount through her approach to play based learning. It was a shame we couldn't keep him in the setting for longer as he benefited a great deal from her care and attention to his progress in the short time he was there, and made a whole host of new friends in her busy setting. Thank you so much Vicky, and we would 100% recommend your setting.
Vicky looks after both of our children and they have felt a very strong bond with her from the beginning. She is utterly capable and reliable, extremely professional and organised, and offers a nurturing, stimulating and loving environment for all the children in her care. We feel very lucky to have found her and the children are very happy.
Vicky has been an absolute star with my 15 month old since I went back to work 6 months ago. Her setting is clean and full of a range of toys and my son was immediately comfortable with her. She really looks after each child’s individual needs and has been flexible when we have needed. She is truly a dream find - so reassuring to know my little boy has a home away from home
We feel really lucky to have found Vicky. She has been looking after our 3.5 year-old for the last 6 months or so and he is so happy there he even asks whether he can go at the weekends!
Vicky offers a great array of activities both at her home and at activity groups. She also takes the children on day outings during the school holidays, which our son always enjoys and we really appreciate in terms of variety of experiences.
The setting is also great with lots of room for outside play but also a good indoor space for crafts and more creative pursuits - we regularly receive some nice crafts despite our son not previously showing much interest in such activities, which is great.
We also receive a helpful detailed daily report.
Vicky is also very flexible and adaptable which is very much appreciated.
The main thing for me however is how happy our son is with Vicky and how much he enjoys his time there - immensely! I would definitely recommend her to anyone.
Although I didn't need Vicky's services in the end, after visiting her setting and seeing the set up of everything in her house I was very impressed. She showed me a sample of the work she does with the children and she puts amazing portfolios together so parents/carers can see what their children are getting up to and what stage they're at. The lunch, dinner and snack menus are perfect for children of all ages. If you need child care I highly recommend Vicky. My son loved it there and didn't want to leave! He's still asking to go back.
