My Summary
About Me
Hello all!!
I'm an Ofsted registered childminder in the Stoke area of Plymouth.
In 2009 I attained a BA Honours degree in Fashion Promotion and Imaging and decided that I would like to use my creative and communicative skills in a rewarding role, where I could care for children and support them in their learning and development.
In September 2010 I moved to Plymouth to become a live in nanny to my closest friend's children. I began to care for one 18 month old and later cared for a new born sibling. In June 2014 I registered with Ofsted to become a child minder. It's been the best decision I've ever made.
In 2019 I got married and have since had two beautiful boys. One of my children is at school and my other is one years old.
I offer a beautiful, clean and safe family home for my setting. We have one cockapoo called Teddy and cat called Olive. Teddy is usually first to the door with his tail wagging to greet you! And a great lover of children.
I take the children in my care to different activities such as toddler groups, local parks, forestry school and the aquarium.
I offer arts and crafts, baking and even a bit of toddler yoga! Whatever they are in to, sparks their interest and gets them engaged to learn.
I have a beautiful and separate play room full of engaging toys and equipment.
The children in my care benefit from role play dress, a giant chalk wall, walled busy boards, reading corner, kitchen corner and ball pit.
It is also a great space to engage in quieter play and process after a morning of stimulating activity.
I thoroughly enjoy working in partnership with parents to care for their children and support their developing needs.
Providing nurturing and loving care, when parents are at work is the highest privilege.
I have sound knowledge of the EYFS and have SEND experience.
I complete photographic learning journeys for all of the children within my care.
I have recently had my Ofsted inspection and have been graded as met all criteria. This was due to being on maternity leave at the time of inspection and only having my children and no other mindees on roll.
My Experience
I have nannied since September 2010 and registered with Ofsted to become a child minder in June 2014. I have cared for new-born babies, toddlers and children up to the age of eight. I complete regular training through Plymouth City Council in the aim that I will do the best that I can for your child.

Ruth started looking after my son when he was 6 months old and has been absolutely amazing with him from day one. He is now 14 months and has loved every day going there.
I wouldn't swap Ruth out for any other Childminder and there are very few people I would have trusted to look after my son at six months but she ticks all the boxes.
She offers the children stimulating activities on a daily basis, taking them to playgroups and parks etc. My sons social skills are great and I undoubtedly would give Ruth a fair bit of credit for turning out as lovely as he is.

My son has been in Ruth's care from the age of 2. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her as a competent, conscientious and trustworthy childminder who enriches my son's life.
I would be confident that she can offer any child in her care what they need. She has a special bond with my son and he is always happy to be dropped off!
Ruth ensures she has planned activities like playgroup and crafts, as well as time for the children to relax. She is reliable, caring and nurturing and above all you can see she enjoys her job.
We wouldn't be without her!

Ruth has been my children's childminder for the past two years and she currently cares for my son on a full time basis Monday - Friday which includes his 15 funded hours. Ruth also collects my daughter from school approximately 3 times a week and cares for her until my husband and I return home from work.
Ruth lives with my husband and I and our two children in our family home and childminds from this address. She is thought of as a member of our family and prior to her qualifying in this field she provided care to both of my children as a friend. I have watched Ruth grow within her current role and develop her skills over the last couple of years and I have been deeply impressed by her professionalism and her ability to manage the relationships that she has with the children that she minds. Both of my children have a deep respect for Ruth and have developed secure emotional attachments to her which has enabled them to be able to share their home with other children without this causing any anxiety or to be unsettled. Ruth provides them with clear, consistent boundaries and they understand what her expectations are of them and they have both flourished in her care. Ruth provides this same level of warmth, encouragement and security indiscriminately and as such she has fostered a safe environment in which both Jasper and Izzy are happy and at ease.
I leave my home in the morning knowing that my children will receive the best possible care. They will be listened too, spoken to, encouraged, praised and taught tolerance, understanding and kindness. Their basic care needs are always met to the highest standard. The levels of supervision that Ruth provides ensures their safety. They are stimulated and afforded opportunities to develop their skills, knowledge, self-care abilities and social understandings. They have a predictable routine. consistent boundaries which reflect their parents values and they are provided with guidance and boundaries which will continue to shape their relationships when they are no longer in Ruth's care.
My son and daughter love Ruth as an Aunt, but they trust her as their care-giver and they seek her out for reassurance, for support and for fun. As a parent I could not recommend Ruth highly enough but the most telling sign that Ruth is providing my children with everything that they need is through their voices. My daughter will pick an extra chocolate to take home to Ruth and will draw pictures which suggest Ruth has been and continues to be a key figure in her life, and my son, when I have a spare morning off from work will say to me when I tell him 'Can I still go to group with Ruth?' Even on a bad day Ruth knocks Mary Poppin's out of the park.

Ruth has been taking care of my 2 younger children full time for the last year and my older child before and after school.
Ruth has a very caring and gentle manner with the children in her care, my children adore her and can't wait to see her in the mornings.
Ruth is always helpful and willing to discuss the care she provides so she can Taylor it to your needs, nothing is too much trouble! She is also enthusiastic about your child's progress and keeps a learning journey up to date with pictures and descriptions of the activities as part of the EYFS scheme and to show you how your child is doing.
My children love Ruth and I can't recommend her enough!
