My Summary
About Me
Hi all
I have been childminding for 8 years now but beforehand I have :-
I am a former post 16 lecturer, teaching on the Prince's Trust programme, (personal development for young people) promoting - confidence, motivation, outdoor and personal development in all areas, at Wirral Metropolitan College,
I have delivered all areas of basic skills, maths, English and ICT to level 2, ICT to level 3.
I have undertaken training with Wirral Borough Council to move into childcare.
I have fostered for 8 years for Wirral Borough Council, this has included children with all kinds of difficulties and special need, but I no longer do this and concentrate on the early years.
Looking after and developing children is a passion of mine. I brought up 3 girls on my own and held a full time career, so realise how important good, safe and trustworthy childcare is to parents.
I have an enhanced DBS (CRB),
Deliver EYFS curriculum,
Have an OFSTED EY number and been OFSTED registered and inspected,
I have PACEY liability insurance.
I encourage child development indoors and out as per EYFS curriculum in all 7 areas. I am out at various groups and socialising with the children on a daily basis.
All facilities are on the ground floor of my house, I have 7 seated vehicle for outings and encourage good nutrition by serving a hot meal each lunchtime.
My Experience
I have 3 grown up girls (which I brought up on my own) and now I have 7 gorgeous grandchildren whom I look after and visit on a regular basis, or they stay over at the weekend.
My grandchildren are ages 4, 5, 7 two of 9, 11 Years and 15. I have looked after each of them since birth and have them through the week and most weekends.
I have also brought up/looked after some of my nieces and nephews whilst parents have been working, wanting time out for holidays, nights out or weekends to themselves.
I have looked after foster children since I was 19 for a family, they were aged 3 - 8 until they reached their teens and did fostering through the council myself but have given it up to concentrate on minded little ones. I even minded the foster children’s children.
Whilst teaching I undertook a lot of groups to do outdoor pursuits at Oaklands adventure Centre, hill walking, orienteering canoeing ? and lots of other things, so I like being outside, weather permitting for a youngster.
My previous employment, prior to Wirral Metropolitan College was teaching in prisons to enhance learning in maths, English, IT and citizenship, also did story book dad's. Fathers read a story onto a CD and made a book to go with it to send home to their children.
I have worked for Manchester University Lecturing - I set up a Fempowerment program and mentoring qualification for women within the university. Orchestrating the pairing of mentees to mentors and then lecturing on the universal factors of mentoring another person and their peers and the problems they may encounter, going on to signpost them to the correct agencies if they need help.
